Question on Slingshot 2014 new Compstick Bar

Postby old school » Tue Mar 18, 2014 5:09 pm

QUESTION - I see from Slingshots new video (on just the bar) that the center hole looks to be the same material on both sides - does anyone know if they have gone to solid steel or solid aluminum insert??

I have been looking to replace my current bar because the center hole is shredding my power/depower line (stupid design of 1/2 plastic and 1/2 aluminum and the fine sand on our beach eats the plastic side resulting in a sharp edge on the aluminum)

Does anyone know? (just looking for answer on the Slingshot, not suggestions on other bars to buy)

THANKS!

I have 2 2014 SS comp bars. Solid aluminum alloy, nicely shaped to prevent snagging/jamming and line wear. Top is shaped to keep fingers from being pinched.

SS Compstick bar - centre line will not destroyed by bar itself but depower lock mechanism.

I have been riding SS RPM for three years. After few months bar's center hole starts greatly affect on rope. Firstly, it deformates itself than starts wear down rope. So average life time 3-4 months for depower rope if ride actively.

If they're kept free of sand and dirt they last for a very long time I've found as I've never replaced 1 yet after 4 year's of riding using the CSS Bar.

Not sure what is going on here but I have not seen anything like this. I ride a lot and use one bar80-90% of the time and all though the trim line is not pristine like it was when I first got it. It is far from needing to be replaced.
