I dont like stabless, not for me...

But using really small stabilizers can be utmost fun sometimes, with big wings, as you get a super lively foil in waves now, and more than sufficient stability.

A couple of years ago I cut a stabilizer down to just under 200 cm2, works terrific.
And I can see in the Naish thread some do this too on theirs.

So you could do the same with a Moses stabilizer, cut it down in size, sand and maybe prep it with epoxy or similar, but not needed if full carbon.

My 1200 cm2 wing with the small stab yesterday, 100 cm mast and 118 cm pocket board:

Nowadays Ketos offer even smaller stabilizers, both in carbon or G10 (a tad less expensive), some also without curved tips (no "rudder" even more loose) as well as medium and really big ones, so they also found that supersmall stabs are AMAZING for many riders :naughty:

Just an easy way to get what you want - cut your stab down, or buy a new one and cut your old one down - sometimes it feels good in carves that it is not too small

Rolf,

Don't know why I want shorter fuselage or stabs! Just a thought....
I'm really happy with 633 set up. Hard to find anything bad about it. I can go really slow.

I know why, they are big and slow so of course we want to speed them up - nothing is perfect but a compromise

Shorter fuselage or smaller stab will work wonders, believe me.

If 873 is fully kiteable, I'm getting it the second it's out. Down the line and carving on 6ft+ waves should be total nirvana.
Even 633 is sometimes too fast for waves faces bigger than 5ft (on a kite). This new wing should fix that.

If there are 5-6ft. standing waves I’m on my directional board. I love foiling and its my new Nirvana but waves of that height aren’t common around here unless we’ve had medium to strong winds or a tropical system come thru.I would love to try the 873 for what it’s designed for light conditions. So far my 633 serves me well,it’s definitely added foiling days that otherwise would not have been possible.

633 isnt very slow wing - there are plenty option of slower wing without being so big /think takuma/ . That size is needed because it makes pumping more effective. Imo not necessary for kite HF and very unpractical.

That’s because you haven’t ridden big waves on a kite yet. :) Absolutely need a big slow foil for big waves.

If you're outrunning a section of wave you want to ride then do a cutback. Surfers have been doing it forever. And what if you want to make a section and need the speed to make it? A massive 2100 cm is not necessary but could be fun IMO.

Disagree here. I do cutbacks with the 633 and Lift 150/170. But on big waves it’s nothing short of heaven to go down the line to the bottom of the wave (straight or angled) and then cut right back up and sometimes spray the wave lip with the foil wing. You won’t be doing as many runs and cuts like that on a fast wing. 633 does it well, but it def could be better.

Last year I asked Lift if they could make a wing like that, but the new 200 surf wing is really only for SUP or actual surfing. Too much pressure in front, like the Cloud 9 wing. It works, but not enjoyably. Hoping the 837 is it.
