Price for the Foil only is 999.00.
BOOM!
If you can stick to that for a year or so and have the bugs worked out...
Best wishes with the production, hope to try one some time!

I had a chance to test the final prototype at Mackiteboarding.com 's Test Fest Last weekend. I believe it was one of if not the first public demo. I had a chance to test it back to back with the MHL Lift and have to say that it is a viable alternative. My initial impression was that it is much easier to learn on and more durable. The board does not have as much flotation so it makes entering the straps and board starting similar to a twintip possible. It's foils might not be quite as fast or efficient upwind as the Lift but they are way more stable and accelerate quickly to get you up on the foil without bearing too far downwind.
The strut and fuselage is made from high quality aluminum with supported joints. The complete setup looks and feels super sturdy and is only a a pound or so heavier than the Lift complete. This thing took a punishment from newbies crashing it into sandbars and kept rolling with the punches. Super impressed on that front.
Brand new foilers were blasting hundereds of yards upwind in crappy 6-8 knot wind with chop in one tack. Pretty sweet. I should note we were using the 12m and 15.5m solo which is perfect for learning to foil.
Back to back with the Lift the Foilfish is noticeably more stable and easy to ride where as the Lift feels faster and a touch more efficient upwind. Serious racers would probably prefer the Lift due to that but Recreational riders might actually prefer the Foilfish even without the $1000 difference in price considered. Likely upgrades in the future will likely allow you to upgrade to a more "hardcore" foil profile.
Oh, and the fish can be used as a fun strapless board when not foiling or for a wakesurfer behind your boat. Triple bonus!
Availability and replacement parts on demand will be a huge bonus as well.
Basically if you are a recreational foil rider or learning check out the Foilfish. If you a racer, check out the Lift. Both are sick, just different applications.

grandheav.... thanks for that post! You brought up a point about launching the fish like a twintip possibility. I had assumed otherwise, as all other videos I've seen were using floaty boards, it just didn't occur to me.

Great review! Thanks!
How much foil experience did you have before trying out these boards?
Decisions, decisions... I was set on the LF foil because it costs half as much (tough to argue with that). A few years ago I had gotten a formula raceboard in hopes that course racing would take off, but it never did on the East Coast. So I figured why go for the expensive racing foils? BUT now there are foil race events happening up and down the East Coast! Your review confirmed what I thought. The LF will be no good for racing. No news on when faster foils will be available.
If the LF foils sell extremely well, maybe someone will start making and selling race foils for it?

if you are not excellent on foil the lf may even be better for racing just so you dont screw it up. haha
im sure you could order race foils for the lf board from a custom foil manufacturer. most racers dont have stock templates anyway from what i understand.
I have limited experience and both ride well for me. i can say that riding the fish for 20 minutes helped me better understand how to ride the lift.
my best comparison is the difference between riding a larger surf shape strapless (19-20" wide) and riding a performance surfboard (17-18" wide with high rocker).
def no master but i can make solid 200 yd tacks and am 50/50 on transitions.
