I am not sure if we are a bit "off topic" or not ? (Liquid Force thread).

But it seems that most wont buy "low end" gear anyways, for some reason

The Carafino is one example - noone buys this anymore, as so much more performing and interesting models has arrived.

Nothing wrong with the Carafino, and it "led the way" into hydrofoiling years ago, but just dont seem to cut it for us users anymore, eventhough it is quite low cost (compared).

Some brands (Wipika being one), made some low end but cheaper kites without colours and stuff.

They were a big failure, as noone wanted those

So I think evolution has made some of the least performing hydrofoils obsolete nowadays - but the "medium" foils is what most will love and buy (apart from the most performing which is super attractive in itself), but as ozchrisb wrote, the price is of course still high, nothing odd about that and just natural.

hey hey everyone! as promised here is a little preview of Jason Slezak and Julien Fillion on the proto LF foil!

Seems like price is a big deal! As we can see in the comments. We could not agree more! More over we feel in various cases price does not equate to " low end gear"....there are efficiencies that can be done to make things more affordable. We are on this quest of performance + ease of use = FUN..I personally can say from experience that we are having tons of fun!! i am sure lots of you can relate! Our mission right now is to HOPEFULLY bring an affordable, durable, foil combination that everyone will have a blast on and progress!

Nice video. It seems the foil and board combo works great! Make it affordable and user friendly and you will have tons of buyers.
Can you post any aprox. dimmensions and other specs?

here is what was posted on the first page I was thinking the same thing about alum.

right now we are working with aluminum...please keep in mind these are just protos that we are working on with the help of a few wonderful people! we are having blast trying all kinds of different configurations and materials..It is amazing how much tiny variances in everything, that you can imagine, has an impact of performance..

As for placement on the board.The board that we are using is unique in that it has a pretty deep swallow tail design. The mast placement is in line with where WE feel it should be (at the moment) based on strap placement, and board rocker..Also, what we have found really great about this set up is that a person that is just learning can easily stay up wind or return up wind without having to "ride" the foil..It is possible to ride the board off the edge pretty easy..

as for the price..we will see!

The Airchair is made of alu, does it not? Also the Aquaskipper, some boats, motors for boats, padles, and many other items used in the saltwater. I guess it all comes down to what type of alu and how you protect it.

Hey Windfreak, while I was in Provo the Julian and the LF team were testing the solo all week, tweaking the bridals etc...
I can tell you this, the Solo will fly in very low wind, I would say 3 - 5 knots. Seems like that would be useful for foiling?
