Special day, at least for me!

Postby revhed » Thu Jul 03, 2014 5:45 pm

Wind measured with calibrated +,-.5 knot at 10 knts, meter on beach 2.25 meters high, foil flyer 150 meters away.
Never more than 6 knots with 5 average while rider flying.
Rider Maxime Nocher
foil sword
kite 18m2 elfe foil, I guess line length 30m
max speed with gt31 gps 24.9 knts.
So,
At least for me the first time I see in person a K B H F go 4 (FOUR)) times the wind speed, or very close to it! :D
This can not be 100% verified but good enough for me!
It was amazing to see how fast he went with so little wind in my face, he is truly gifted!
There were other very skilled young kiters there for training but only Max rode either a race board or foil, they tried though!
It was a great pleasure to watch the very best in the world do what I also love to!

AWESOME !

He is so good one can not believe it

Was it 33-34 knots average when he crossed the channel ?

Amazing :naughty:

4 times the windspeed approximately, is a new league of performance :thumb:

But one has to note, that the wind speed at the kite could be somewhat different - you never know what the windgradient is - but as it seems noone else could ride, it could be pretty light and standard yes.

He is amazing.

I often ride where we have wind measured at a nearby sensor of 8 to 10 knots and my gps watch records my cruising speed at 22 knots or more. I am usually going as far downwind or upwind as possible so I am not trying to set speed records, but even for a mere mortal like myself my board speed is often well over twice the wind speed.

There is nothing special about my performance, I only mention it in case anyone new to foiling wonders what to expect.

foil: Spotz
board: Aguera
kite: 13m Edge

Honestly, congratulations.

I guess that means he is effectively holding onto an 18m foil in more than 25 knots apparent wind :o
