Seated kitefoiling.

Postby ronnie » Sun Feb 01, 2015 3:36 pm

Thierry Schmitter and F-One are going to co-operate on a seated kitefoil.

Absorbing the bumps and impacts is a big problem when sit-kiting and the kitefoil is potentially a good answer.

Thierry in Cape Verde riding a board with only small suspension movement to help absorb the impacts.

Ronnie, is these videos to show how bad it WAS ?

Meaning, the impacts from a non-hydrofoil like in the videos, looks really bad indeed yes.

I can not see any "foil" ?

Assume it is for disabled mostly (but we all are to some extent with age ha haa), one would make a seated hydrofoil.

What about the Airchair, too heavy and bad performing ?

Saw in the other thread, that it comes in carbon (but expensive), and it seems to work fine with Kris as seen in the other thread

Nice to see the shock absorber under the seat :thumb:

Yes the videos are to show how little suspension he was using and the jumps and chop he was having to take impacts from.
There is a Handikite suspended seat which has been used successfully, but I haven't seen anyone seated riding waves as well as Thierry.
I'm sure I read somewhere that Thierry found the riding painful to his back.

Christophe Martin of Handikite has already ridden a seated foil behind a boat and they are also investigating a foil seated board. They seem to be trying to swing the foil up behind the rider so he can ride in right onto the beach and ride out from the beach to deep water.
See the prototypes section.
