Great. I have also heard that they modified their mould to make the mast thicker near the fuselage so perhaps that problem is also fixed.

In fairness, I should add that I am very happy with the performance of my Spotz 2.

I've had/have two Spotz 2's, both slalom and freerace.
2m tall / 115kg.
I jump it and race competitively.
no cracks or breaks.
you're good.

Would you share the experience on the two sets of wings?
Thanks

just get the freerace. Don't think it through any more than that.

on all of them: it's worth taking the time to pot your front wing exactly to the mast/fuselage piece, and to pot your mast to your board's box.

When you say "pot" do you mean semi permanent? As in it can still be undone for things like travel. Just a thin layer of epoxy?

Here are before and after pictures of the epoxy build up which I had to do to restore the proper Tuttle shape to my Spotz 2 mast. Now my hydrofoil fits solidly into my board and does not move around.

I had access to a Tuttle box (made by Chinook) which I used as a mold for potting in.

permanent but still able to disassemble.

It takes about 15mins + cure time.

- check that there are no notches or grooves in the female socket that will create a 'lock'.
- cover the female socket and part completely with mould-release wax. also tape off areas if you like.
- sand the male plug to roughen and wipe clean.
- mix resin + cabosil (fumed silica - to thicken for anti-sag) + graphite powder (for low-friction finish & colour). apply liberally to male plug.
- put the parts together, align everything, and wipe away the excess resin that squirts out.
- let it cure.
- bang it apart with a rubber mallet or wood blocks + hammer. It may take quite some force.

Then you have a male part that is an exact perfect match to the female part. It will be super tight and remove all wiggle, yet be relatively easy to disassemble. It should even look pretty professional, as if new. You should not need to do any sanding, except maybe a quick file to remove any flashing from excess resin.

You will find that your foil becomes much more stable. I do this with my wings and the mast head into the board.
Just don't mess it up, or you will have permanently bonded your wings on... which isn't the worst thing actually.
