Any reviews yet?

I'm buying my first foil in the next two months. I'm torn between jumping on the bandwagon with a new technology, but I don't want to be the only guy still using a traditional foil in two years...

That's an expert kiter and * to me* it seemed a little unstable, looked like a lot leg work along with a very wide stance, canards are going to ride different( the crazyfoil gave me a taste) I just don't see the advantage when a conventional setup is proven and works well.

I don't feel any big change coming. I see a new nice posibility for advanced rider and wave, some may change, but no need for most.

It will be interesting to see the reviews on the Zeeko Spitfire. Once the verdict is in on this design, I wonder if this may change the opinions on the CrazyFoil? Though even if they both use the same canard principle, the profiles of the wings look quite different -- the zeeko ones look quite a bit smaller and less "chunky".

The canard concept seems sensible (assuming it works). I am interested more in carving turns than speed and I like to ride in swells. A concern in riding in waves is that the waves may lead to rapid changes in the depth of the foil, leading to accidental ventilation, and then faceplants! If this canard style would lessen the likelihood of this, perhaps improving the chance of riding it out, it seems this would be a big plus for this style of riding. As well, it seems to make sense to have the larger wing under your rear foot for wave riding, as that emphasizes that as a pivot point for sharper turns. Just as your weight is on your back foot when carving turns when surfing.

No idea if that's right....just seems logical. I am intrigued.....will look forward to more information.

Juan, it is called a duck (canard) in aviation because it looks like a flying duck with its long neck forward, as the fuselage points forward of the main wing, instead of rearward like on conventional planes :naughty:

We had them back in the RC glider days in the 70ies too.
In German they were called "Ente-modelle", a funny word I don't know why we just found it funny when we were kids :rollgrin:

I am curious is there's any kiter reviews of the new version of CrazyFoil. http://crazyfoil.com/shop/

Their new design seems to have some interesting features: intended to be interchangeable, they advertise it as 16 configurations, canard or otherwise. And has the big bumpers of the sides to avoid slicing yourself....which is likely for safety but I am sure affect performance to some extent. At $372 US....price is nice. But do you "get what you pay for"?

Reviews of the prior version were less than stellar ... though if any of that was about the canard ride in general, maybe that has changed since spitfire came out? Or is this likely to remain wake only?
