Deadmans turn / Suicide jibe are already existing names for it as far as I know.

Cheers,

... and Paragliders call something similar (turning point between rider and canopy) SAT ..

Video is online, but as expected no good quality, just a bit better than nothing:

very very Nice ! so you kept foiling up all the turn long ?
SAT like "satellite " ? Nice name as well, but indeed, if it is the same as a deadman ...

Thanks :) and yes especially the last one I did not just keep foiling all the turn, but didn't even shortcutted the turn on the end. It was all clear smoth and perfect ... and just some fisherman watching :D
But conditions were nearly below the wind you need to get started with this setup. So getting started was on the end more difficult than the 360 itself, and maybe I was lucky that the wind close to the beach was even lower, but I didn't care as I was ready to swim in the last meters.

Not sure where "SAT" comes from, never done it with a paraglider. But isn't "deadman" in kitesurfing used for this:

And I think a 360 deadman on a buggy is something pretty easy on hard ground in compare.

For me touching down when foiling always feels like "damn, I missed it". Also when jumping, landing on the board but touching water is like half made. Therefore I like backflips very much as they are easy to land just on the foil also with the long strut and low wind.

SAT comes from the name of the acro collective that invented it. The Safety Acro Team.

Why is a kite-rider 360 called a Deadman or Suicide Gybe. A Deadman used to be an upside down, no hands jump. The 360 doesn't look all that suicidal.

My words >60 km/h straight is for sure much more suicidal on a foil than any 360 and buggy kiting at all, without jumping, never looks very suicidal to me but more like wheel chair sport :P

So till now I would stay with "360 Galactical" 8)

SAT - I've seen that many times in videos but never know what it is called. But difference for "dead man's turn" and SAT is that on SAT rider (seemingly) goes backwards on rotation point between rider + wing and on deadman's turn rider goes forwards.

360 refers IMO rolls like 720 or 1080. Ok you probably say backroll and 720 backroll.

How about something like carousel turn if "dead man's turn" for some reason is not preferred?

Was that video "marc blanc" taken at Rosas by any chance ? I was foiling there a couple of weeks ago with a talented Frenchie. I couldn't make out if he was trying to demonstrate the flying gybe to me or if he was taunting my ineptitude! by showing off in front of me - the former I hope - but he was certainly skilled - and I saw him try this move with a 5M bandit in about 10 knots. It certainly looks like the same guy.

Hello,

Why don't you let you choose Marc BLANC. He has realized the 360, isn't it?

Hey Tycha,

first post and already right:

Mark Blanc has done the 360 with touchdown first and so he should choose how to name that maneuver.

And if Marc is here and says that he also has already done a full flying 360, I am going to believe it, as I also have no 100% visible video of that till now and so he may also name that one.

Yours Bernd
