Yeah in that drawing the plan shape was pulled off the LF Rocket Fish. Figured for my first wing I'll go with a lower aspect wing to figure out everything in the build. Although I've seen some people say aim for 900cm2 (hawaii and others I think) area and some say a 600cm2 area (seabreeze article and some others). Any one have a solid answer on that? Or is it just for the learning wing you go for the higher lift/ area low AR wing then shrink it up and increase the AR for faster wings?

I have been learning on a Cabrinha Double Agent, and have gotten down heel side s shaped carves. Have tried a few times to hit the speed limit of DA and can definitely feel it, and how flexy the wings are on that DA are sketch at the speed limit.

Anyone have the center to center measurement on the LF foil wings? Would like to make it so I could switch out my wings with at least one commercially available one so I can "benchmark"

I think 900 is way too big, in my experience its actually easier to ride a medium wing size like 600. Thickness is also important. Go with 12% thickness or more and it will be more forgiving. 10% seems to be the thickness of race wings With their higher take off and top end speeds

Would changing from 900 to 600 need a likewise change with the area of the rear wing or just shimming to get a lesser angle?

600cm2 seems a learning surface area for front wings.

PS I'm just at the starting process to make my hydrofoil too.

45mm between centers for the wing . . .

Go for 600-650cm2.

800 is what at least 3 different brands use for beginner foils or for heavy weights or marginal wind.

Even when experienced, 600-650 will fit for most conditions, given it has the same profile approx.

A bit more difficult to learn, but not much

Yeah I've gotten to learn on a Double Agent so I'll have to modify my front wing design. What should I be aiming for in the rear then?

So, wing plan shape is a matter of copy and paste, and anhedral/dihedral seems easy with your tie-it-to-a-vent approach.

Just like foiling a surf fin. Plus I've made some templates that I can use to check my work. I did see someone make a pretty simple router jig for flat wings. but just decided to try bending and hand shaping.
