Wow, now that has serious surfing potential.

No tow in craft. Efficient enough to surf swell and small stuff on the outside. Looks like it goes plenty fast. Go with a collapsible prop like many sailboats use. Probably collapsible to max efficiency once surfing. Clean, at least in the ocean sense. Maybe down the road, the board itself can incorporate solar charging while it sits on the beach waiting for the wind to drop. Take off the foil and strap the board to your roof solar cells up for your drive to the cottage!

Very interesting.

That second video is an eye opener.

I like your inner skeptic, but the shore break looks legit.

I was just thinking:

Is it not true that adding any propulsion system near the foil like jet of air or water or a standard propeller create cavitation, water bubbles , aeration etc..
Any combination of those, should decrease lift and reduce stability of the wings in the water?

I am not an fluid dynamics engineer or expert, but would it not be the case? And if so, is there really a big future in putting propulsion system next to the foil itself?

I dont see adding the propulsion AFTER the wings has much impact, or any, opposed to in front where it would be a disaster compared...

I am reminded of the Piper twin Commanche aircraft that got a lot of its lift from the airflow created buy its propellors.
Such that when landing you had to be careful when cutting engine for touchdowns, you did not drop like a stone.

This is my guess:
Thrust adaptation.jpg
Among the small punchy underwater thrusters, with 210 mm x 77 mm footprint, you have:
4kg thruster.jpg

The cheapest place is not ebay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R4 ... r&_sacat=0

Around 300USD: http://www.dhgate.com/product/kz-3800-u ... 3963566196

Top quality thrusters at 600USD from Marine Robotics shops:
Ultra compact 150mm x 70 mm http://www.crustcrawler.com/products/urov2/

If you Google "how to build a ROV UROV AUV UAV thruster" you have all the hardawre and battery solutions available at a very decent price

Waiting for a back pack battery kit to ride a mini pocket KBHF board... electrical contact to thruster via rear foot heel ... :o

Worth looking at:
100mm diam x 131mm base
5kg thrust at 16V, 3.5kg thrust at 12V
194 USD with speed controller :o :o :o :o . Not included : battery + PWM (the accelarator somehow)
