I wonder if this is a major upgrade in performance or just an incremental one - I struggle to see how he could have improved it much at all, or at least not in a way I'd be able to notice, as the C.5 is already such an amazing kite, especially in the smaller sizes.
From what I can gather . . . GD's philosophy is to only release a new design if it is a substantial upgrade from the existing model (not just a tweak) so that his followers get real value for money spent.
Steve . . . I feel the same way as you regarding improvements to the C5 3.5m but then i suppose we are not passionate kite designers driven to continue development.
I just wish I had easy access (or any access) to trying the different sizes that interest me to see if they deliver what I like in a kite. The 3.5 was a winner for me at first flight so I am intrigued by what the D clouds promise performance wise.
As for sizing, I like riding a kite in its sweetest spot so I have owned sizes 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 to achieve that (same model but not necessarily same year model though and not all purchased new). Crazy I know when it comes to choosing one for the day. Greg's sizing is spaced i would say better for someone like me. Closer together at smaller sizes and further apart towards larger sizes makes a lot of sense if you wanted the whole quiver (dreaming) or if you wanted a quiver to cover a particular range suited to the wind range that interests you or that your area gets. For me, the 3.7, 4.8 and 6.2 and perhaps the 8 would possibly interest me. Maybe it is this honeymoon foiling stage that I am at that makes me want to sell almost all my current kites to get some more clouds
