Did I purchase a lemon?

Postby Do-it » Mon Dec 05, 2016 1:31 am

Hey fellas, what are your thoughts on this foil set up. Impulse buy!!!! The fuselage is a little abnormal and I was wondering what characteristics it may add or take away from the norm. Thanks for the help.

I think that's the original MHL lift. 2013? Do a search for 2013 MHL lift and I think they all looked that way.

I've heard they are slow, but work well for a beginner foil.

that is one of their first ... before 2013 I think.. it is a carbon copy of a rush randal that was made out alum for pulling behind a boat or a PWC . the board had K2 clicker snowboard binding on it and you had snowboard boots on too

Amazing that at that time they mounted the F wing on top of the fuse. :o
Think about all the force on the bolts, wing holes, and most important inserts!
And how hard is it to align the fuse to the STRUT connection, or optical illusion?
That said, as wings are very low AR and big, slow and stable, should be beginner user friendly and one part T bar should be strong.
Learn to fly it, pass it on ASAP, board looks OK, and get a modern design.

Agree - it is just like the "original" Carafino almost, which works great and maybe the easiest for learning.

Many around here have learned on the Carafino foil the last years, works just great :thumb:

Of course you might want something else later - but you never know

Thanks guys, I figured it would be good for learning the basics......and it was 35% cheaper than any other beginner set up. Appreciate the feedback.

Does it mean that you will forget about "how you look" and wear a "helmet" to learn ?

Sorry boss, I'll take my chances without a helmet.

When you fall make sure you body drag away and upwind of the foil before you turn around and reach for it. They keep their momentum for longer than a TT or surf board, giving them a tendency to "hunt you down."

My helmet saved my butt a half dozen times in the last 18 months of riding due to foil related head impact. Please consider it.
