You will also be powered with way less kite in waves than if you want to jump, so two different scenarios anyways.
But agree, a two strap setup would work great in rougher waves, and could give you more "safety" going over big broken waves indeed

I'm finding that my foilboarding enjoyment reflect my normal kiting enjoyment. So I want to both jump and ride waves. I want to gybe and ride toeside and jump and wave ride in the same session. I'm assuming 2 strap would be the go for that?.

You can carve with 3 straps but it feels like shit compared to 2. You lose so much control over the toeside edge of the board since your foot isn't in the middle. It's great if you want to just lean back and go upwind or don't really maneuver the board at all.
Personally riding 3 straps lessens my enjoyment a lot because to me foiling is just for dicking around in light wind when you can't ride a real board. I'm not racing so making really fast foot changes doesn't matter to me. 2 straps feels so much better for cruising and playing around.

I did this...

Much preferred it. 242mm centres to fasten to the board (might vary from board to board though!)
For a single footstrap instead of a double you would need to make the same thing to bridge the fixing holes on the other end of the footstrap.
Hej Skyte,
Is this set up working good to keep board position when starting?

Well... I've had a total of 2 hours learning to ride a foil and the last 30mins was with the single front footstrap. I much preferred it but those last 30 mins were in much easier conditions (flatter water).
I'm no expert
just my preference!

Put a strap on last night . . . SO much easier water starting in light wind with it!

I did the same for the first time yesterday . . . a single front strap.
Definitely easier to water start even in strong wind with lots of swell.
Easier to carve board around also when gybing . . . more leverage i suppose.
Still like to ride strapless.

Hej Skyte,
I'm at the same stage, and its deep winter here at 56N. A bit too cold to be spending time bobbing around in the water. Have time to rig the Straps. Thanks for the tips.

I also thought that footstraps would make marginal wind riding a lot better, so had straps on my special board board used when less than 7 knots
But to my surprise it made no difference at all, and without straps it actually felt way better and could start at least as early as with straps - so havent used them since I found that to be a fact.
For learning though, one or two straps or hooks is way easier, no doubt
Peter

Not the riding, the water start. Heaps easier...
