I'm on a Silente with the non delta wing and t40 board. Just ordered Vorace, 558 and 550 wings. Too many sand bars to get over around where I kite, so as much as I think longer is better, the Vorace is a better compromise.
I find it odd that Moses doesn't position a light wind wing.

What is that for you 'a light wind wing', can you describe in detail ?
The two wings that you ordered are awesome in light winds!

Regarding mast/strut lengths, my experiences, having an 83 cm, 90 cm , 100 cm right now:

83 is great for marginal winds, particularly in dead onshore marginal it provides an option to ride when too little wind to keep a light kite in the air without actively flying it, so not possible to drag out between sand banks to deeper water.

90 is a good compromise for everything, cheaper than a long one, and okay for most things.
But I still ventilate when frequent chop waves, which are the most normal conditions.

100 is the only one I like in normal "wind" waves - even the 90 is often too short here, where you cross and carve in close steep waves :thumb:
And for riding really powered upwind, it is also better of course.

For jumping (strapped) and rotations, the shorter the better as you can tweak and turn and twist the foil way easier the shorter the strut :D
Strapped you can also ride faster and ventilate slightly, and recover most often, contrary to strapless, with a much shorter strut.

For waveriding in "perfect" smooth conditions, glassy and long swell period, a short strut would most likely work fine, and be quite lively.
In anything but that, which is our most frequent conditions, the longer the better IMO.

Maybe sligthtly off topic from the thread title I know, but the last posts was about differences between strut lengths.

I mean like the Alpine XLP2 wing. No experience with it, just a different approach that they say is for ultra light wind.

Hi, currently I have Fluete with 550 wing, but I would like better slow take off, the 550 seems to be prone to rodeo if there's not enough speed. Would 548 wing make a difference?

Thanks!

Yes, as it offers more lift at lower speed.

Got out on the new Vorace and carbon T-40 today. Coming from a Silente with 560 wing.

Very pleased but it is different.

Had the 550 and 330 stab mounted. 8 to 12 knots with Flysurfer Speed 5 15m

I thought the Silente was smooth....this is even more buttery.

Observations in no particular order:

Bit more speed needed to get on the wing
Falls off the wing a bit more abruptly.
On boosting water exit there is a slight high frequency resonance feel, probably from the aluminum fuse. Not unpleasant but noticed
Still a noob in the foil boosting dept but registered a 26 feet in sub 13 knots
Did not cavitate under water once...not even a hint. The silente was bugging me in this area when you would load it up.
Way more maneuverable / looser from a yaw perspective
The extra cm on the mast make a difference in frequency of ventilation.
If the wing breaks the surface it is no fuss do dive back down...the Silente usually caused a crash.

May try the 558 tomorrow.

Received 548 wing from Frank. Great service Frank.
Outline looks identical. But foil shape is fuller. Will be interesting to see if a noob can tell the difference.
