Does anybody on here have experience with Storm Voyager 3s, preferably 12m?
To date I haven’t managed to find any real user feedback.
Not looking for the ultimate low wind foiling kite but after something to replace Bandit 12m (v8) and Cloud 13m (v1) for general freeride (~76kg) – Note. These weren’t bought for foiling but were just what was in my quiver when I started foiling.
Bandit just doesn’t hang that well in light fluky winds but has good range – The Cloud hangs in the lulls brilliantly but has a v small useable wind range.
Would love to try the new clouds but: a) Price is a joke b) Hard to get in the EU.
So Voyager 3: Good points/ Bad points???
Thanks

I have a Storm Voyager 3 15 m2. Use it for foiling in low wind. Guess I'm game from 3-4 m/s. It hangs in the air and stays up in almost no wind. I had it in the water a few times and thought it would be a pain in the a... to relaunch, but it more or less relaunched by it selves. Much much easier to relaunch in low wind than the LF Solo's I used for foiling before. I have a Gong 12 m2 strutless also. If you consider a 12 strutless I think you can get a Gong with 30 procent discount right now.."...

Hi
I use the Storm III 15 for light wind foilboard sessions.
Very nice kite.
Very poor reinforcements but intentionally (I guess) to get it light.
Only bad thing is the down tendency on the top end when you're foiling.
I like it very much

Thanks for the feedbacks.
"Only bad thing is the down tendency on the top end when you're foiling" - I'm not sure what you mean by "down tendency", can you clarify?
Even though it is 12m that interests me, for the 15m what do you reckon is the comfortable wind range for foiling & @ what weight?
Just looked at gong website..can't see anything about 30% discount?

Regarding size, I am 77-78 kg and found the 15 m2 Voyager 2 too big for me, a 12 would be better for my weight as same peak power because it accelerates and turns better so same low end start I reckon, and you wont feel overpowered as early.
Just a note that it makes totally sense for your 76 kg to go after a 12 m2 and not the 15, and no havent tried Voyager 3
I like the Voyagers, sleek and looks good, and they can hang in much less wind than you can ride - which is the goal right ?

Hi
I'm 107kg. I can foil from 7/8 knots. More likely 7. With 30m lines.
Down tendency: if I'm overpowered (foiling) which I would guess starts at 13 knots you have to pull hard on the bar to avoid that the kite slowly flies toward ground. But pulling so hard that you fear loosing balance on the foil. That happens mostly when the kite is lower than 45-50°.
I hope I explained myself.

Carsten
Thanks for the clarification. I understand what you are describing but must admit I don't understand the mechanics of this behavior.
Cheers

How do those two compare? Performance, quality, weight ....

The same question was asked (and got an answer) on this topic

In short, it seems the relaunch of the Storm may be a bit better.
