Amazing - but he must be towed up, so you could buy loads of gear for the price of a boat ha haa

With a bigger and still superlight board, could you start on your own ?

THAT would be impressive, and never say never :naughty:

Good workout for sure :thumb:

Mike's Lab is mentioned at the end. Looks like they tow him up to max speed and then he slowly bleeds speed as he pumps.

Nice, but on the end not really better than what Kai Lenny has shown a year ago pushing from one wave to the next one.

I think the big part of the impulse comes from the speed of a boat, which is consumed till the end.
No clip is longer than 17 sec, the movement may help a bit, but it seems that there is still no other water foils that can be driven human powered for a minute or more, apart from
- Aqua skipper
- foil kayaks
- watercycle style constructions ...

which altogether are very limited according to style and freestyle potential :(

Lame. Get towed to high speed. Let go. Glide along a bit. Pump a bit. Settle on the water. As has been said, the longest pumping is less than 20 seconds.

Kai Lenny's videos are much more impressive. Similar duration of pumping. No boat towing involved. Lower speed start. Much cleaner pumping action.

There is a human powered hydrofoil, that can sustain constant forward progress,
without the use of a motor boat , or external power other than the guy
riding it.

It's ALL about High AR and efficiency ; those low AR foils , just won't
make the cut, and any decent sailplane pilot would agree.

It could be interesting if someone designed a foil for maximum pumping efficiency. Right now most foils are either low aspect( not efficient enough) or high aspect, but designed for speed/VMG for racing.

I wonder what a high-aspect, pumping-designed foil could do?
