I've been out a few times on my herion, i mean hydrofoil, and i am already addicted. The silence is really weird in a good way!
So... I'm using a slingshot rally 8 m2. My next size is a 13 m2 Fuel (and 9m2) which is just to heavy for lightwind so i'm already planning on going strutless for the summer. For example with the Storm Voyager III. But on a freeridefoil (Sroka) and with 90 kg of steak and zinfandel in the sack, will I gain anything on a 15 m2 instead of a 12 m2?
I am not going to race, just really interested in super low wind foiling. But how much more will the 15 m2 give me, and at what cost?

I personally don't see the point of a 15m unless your chasing 8 knots or less.
What wind range do you want to hit?

I am 75kg, and I dont need bigger than 12 (Storm Voyager 2). Since you have a few kilos more than me, you might find the 15 usefull, but I am not sure. Lets hear some others...

I have a 12m Cloud and have no want for a bigger one. My next purchase will likely be a smaller one! If I want to ride in decidedly under 10 knots I'll pick up an 11m race foil kite someday. 80-85Kg

I have a 17m Cloud and I do use it foiling, but mainly to get up on the board. Once I get going upwind I am nearly always over-powered due to the apparent wind.
So based on the advice of others on the forum, I added 10m line extensions and started using the 13.5m and 8.5m Clouds on 30m lines. Can't see myself ever using the 17m again.
So I would buy the 12m and some 10m line extensions for the super light days.

Thank you very much for your replies! I really want to get going as soon as possible. BUT, if the 15 only makes me start say 1 knot earlier and forces me to stop 4-6 knots earlier, i am off course willing to sacrifice that 1 knot of low end! Plus i imagine a 15 m2 must be pretty dull at 10 knots of wind...

My biggest kite is a 12 m, foil kite. I just got a new foilboard setup and now I can see that maybe, in really light wind, I could use a 15 m. I would recommend a 12 m. Likin' the steak and zin!

In this case you should buy the 12. For me, the low end difference between 9m2 and 12m2 is really small, not more than 1 knot I think.

Sounds like a 12m2 is the way to go for me. Hope I wont regret it
But if im buying a 12 m2 maybe i should save a bit of cash and try the GONG strutless 12 m2. Any thoughts on that?
