helmet for foiling

Postby lovethepirk » Wed Apr 12, 2017 9:45 pm

Getting my foil and board next week...

I saw on the other forum someone mentioned this helmet:
https://gamebreaker.com/

I couldn't tell if they were serious of not on the helmet, but I'm considering this one. I called them and the pro version has some D3 material they use in military helmets, etc. I like the soft nature of it and also really like to have ear protection as I have once busted my eardrum already. I don't like the holes in the top though.

Thoughts?

Gath helmets. highly recommended. You don't look like kazoo and stay in one place. My mystic one was brutal.

Using the cheap Pro Tek . . . with a $1 baseball cap underneath. The hat actually works well to deflect the water the helmet stores after a crash away from your eyes.

So far so good . . .

I also use a Gath helmet. Good coverage and it's light enough.

On a foil? You been into the Coromandel green or has the cyclone cook washed your common sense away?

What gave you the impression I ever had any common sense?

I like having a cap under the helmet too, whatever the activity, but I found the wee round metal rivet on the top holding a hat together to be a hazard, as it concentrates and transfers any shock on the top of the helmet onto a tiny part of the skull...So I have a cap that has been de-nutted and that is kept specifically for under helmet usage.

I know quite a bit about the D3o material, researched it for a project at work. Then I got impact vest made with it. Negative is that it is heavy, positive is it is quite flexible, forms well to body.
I'd be worried about the weight.
Using a 15 year old Gath. Works better than the skate style helmet.
