I was on session 13, 4 weeks ago, then f-u-ed my back. That last session it clicked and was really relaxing and following water and foil. It was pretty choppy and wavey.
Today was session 14, 30 min on 2016 Moses Fluente with 548 front wing. 10-14 knots on a North Mono 12. It was fairly flat and only 30 cm wind waves.
Is was worried I would have lost the feeling, but I popped right up and, Click, I was foiling as long and far out as I dared, wind was falling and the ships were coming thru the sound, so I stayed on the Swedish side. Did a few surface transitions, only fell once on a fast reach to get back.
Felt great, had even better control and was pushing upwind and gliding down.

My sessions have been short, about an hour. I'm finding the Fluente super easy now.

My session progression :
1. Omg, how do you carry this bloody thing.
2. Shit, I can't even get up on the board. Is this possible?
3. Death warning. Get up on surface, fly a few meters Tangle lines in foil, rip hole in my wetsuit butt. Foil now called Jaws. I don't think this is possible to do without getting hurt.
4. Lesson in Mexico after 4 month break. Ahh! It's possible. Wow.
5. Lesson 2. Yee haw, I can flyyyy-Bammmmm.( face plants, body slams, rag dolls)
6-7-8-9-10-11-12 : incremental improvement every session, some forward some back depending on conditions.
13. Click. Yoda feeling. " there is no try, there is only do"
14. 4 week break. Then, click, relax, float, . I want to quit my job and be hydrofoil bum.

I had to keep telling myself, "what one man can do, another can do." :D then it was like, "what's all the site about?"

Then I tried switching feet :D

Switching feet? you should keep your own feet, and your left foot on your left leg...
I'm going in both directions with equal ease. Today on the 9m in same 30cm chop and windwaves today. Only 1 crash in 30 min. Seat harness is way better than waist harness.
Did some surface gybes " with some speed ". I'm flying points of sail, upwind to broad reach, about 30-45 degrees downwind I think. Free arm at my side or on my leg, following wave altitude and even some pumping of foil.
Next stage is to nail my surface gybes and try some turns to toeside and back to heel side on my strong side.

3rd session I can make S turn heading downwind and go on broad reach. So no issue going back downwind ;)
Tried a few carving turn to toe side but coudn't ride away toeside, either stalled and couldn't pop it back up from toe side or fell.
Would it make it easier to progress on carving turn by learning to water start toe side?

Jerome,
I've seen some video where a foiler water starts heelside, but as soon as he's starting to be pulled up onto board, starts turning board on back foot towards toeside, immediately over to toeside and pops up onto foil, then quickly carves back to heelside while flying.

Thanks, could be a nice exercise, so you start with a slow loop and as you go up you go toe side following kite and carve back heel side send kite through 12 again. I guess next session I will focus on those ;)

Luke : " Master Yoda, how can I over come my fears, I want to try to foil"
Yoda: " No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try"
Luke: " what must I do?"
Yoda: " you must invest all your savings in a magical foil, and you must unlearn what you have Learned"
Luke: " i don't, I don't believe it!"
Yoda: " that is why you fail " " control, control, you must learn control!"
Luke" I want my TT back!, I'm gonna need it to get out of this slimy mudhole.
Yoda:" Mudhole? Slimy? My home this is! "
Luke: "You don't even know who I am. Oh, I don't even know what I'm doing here! We're wasting our time!"
Yoda:" [Looking away from Luke] I cannot teach him. The boy has no patience. "
Luke:" I can't. It's too big. I need a shorter strut!"
Yoda: "Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the lift, and a powerful ally it is. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the water, the foil, everywhere, yes."
