The same as on surfboards, I have found no difference in wax "stickyness" to carbon (did it before I got my boards "coated")
Hate wax, so use pads or using the Hexa Traction RS PRO on this full carbon board:

Use 3/4 deck pads on my other carbon foil (board), but a LOT heavier of course, when wet, but tougher I assume, and softer.
If you are not talking about the carbon foilboard, but the wings and mast etc, then many will say you dont need to make it shiny, better of finesanded, and they are probably right.
IF you do like this glossy look (you can feel the difference IMO, but visible), then sand it fine first till 800 - 1200 wetsand paper, and use normal boat wax for polishing it "perfect" (like this:
http://www.hr-parts.com/contents/en-us/p1536.html) - have done that several times on repairs for shiny look.
Now some brands, also Ketos, make the carbon matte from the start.
