Severely bruised wallet due to even more spending in boards and smaller kites for foiling :P

Apart from that the usual, had my lines tangled in the foil a few times, but nothing major as normally you're in a smaller kite. A few close calls though, so even today being much more proficient I still wear helmet and impact vest.

When learning I used to check the depth with my feet to make sure it was deep enough to not hit bottom with the wings even if I sank the board with my whole weight. Scraped a sea urchin doing this and had some 20 of those spikes...

Never had any problems with ankles and food straps as I took them off quite early. In my opinion you don't really need them unless you plan on going with faster foils. The only 'difficult part' to learn is the waterstart but you can do it in one session and then it's just natural.

I'm a complete beginner again with a foil on a skim board type board.

Today the foil went through my lines, resulting in a looping kite with the foil pulling me down underwater. After the second loop I ejected the kite. The foil cut my safety line, completely freeing the kite and foil.

The kite dropped the foil about 300 meters downwind. I was very significantly farther from shore than I would ride on the surfboard or a twintip. I had a nice long swim, showing up on the beach just after sunset.

I've smashed my shins on the board so many times I wear shin guards now.
I wear shinn guards under my wetsuit also :D
Wait what?

You wear shin guards? WTF?

I hit my shins once. Thought f*** that shit and instantly learnt how to crash without smashing my shins.

Had a couple of deathloops, while learning to transition.
The one below, caused the strut to explode :-)
Closing all struts now to make sure I have some air in the kite for relaunch or long swim

Also a wing once hit me in the back, right below the harness, cutting through 4mm neoprene, but it seemed to slow down there with just a small scratch on the skin and some bruising..
Twisted an ankle once, but not too badly. Had some pain walking but did not stop kiting :-)

Light concussion after breaching doing 35km/hr+ on a broad reach, and slamming onto the water. Wearing a gath helmet.

Cut to bone on right shin from falling and connecting with mast.
I feel lucky I didn't damage leg bone more than the tiny chip it took out.

Falling is not always anticipated...so efforts to land clear can be too late.

Had an awkward wipeout ending with the foil in the lines, but then slammed my wrist into the very sharp trailing edge of the mast with both hands on the bar as the kite whipped from one side of the window to the other, gashing my wrist open with blood in the water like a shark attack. I was about a 1/2 mile offshore, and luckily was able to kite back to shore. We had a bunch of relatives visiting and were having a barbecue back at the house, so I didn't want to go to the emergency room, but it definitely needed stitches, so I crazy glued it together, sat on the couch with ice on it and elevated it, while drinking a beer and had everyone else do the cooking. It worked out fine, but I now have a fine scar I can look down on with fond memories, lucky that it wasn't a centimeter or so over where the big vessels are!

I landed on my front wing during a failed gybe - and cut myself a second arse-crack.

(I'll spare you the photo!)

The tip of the foil once continued into the round bone on my ankle. It was in february. The thing still f@cking hurts! Kinda crazy

Blue thighs on the outside due to countless smackdowns in the beginning

Sooo nothing yet really :-)
