diy e foil kickstarter scam?

Im curious if anyone got any valuable information out of donating to DIY efoil kickstarter,or was it a scam? He posted that he would share information about his build on youtube ,but didnt show much in his one video and then made it a pay for info kickstarter project.After his kickstarter still no videos of a working efoil on his youtube channel.Not trying to be mean ,just curious of what people did or didnt get for their donations.And was there ever a video of his DIY efoil actually working(efoiling)?

I didn't donate, but I read it as it was a support to a project that is being built and that donations would lead to private support towards your own build.

In general kickstarters are a huge buyer beware since you are not really buying a product, but supporting a project that has a potential to fail. That said I did not feel there were significant warning flags on the DIY e-foil because what they promised were not really that hard for them to fulfill.

Hey guys, Its Chris Vermeulen from the Kickstarter DIY Electric Hydrofoil project. I just wanted to reach out and be sure backers and followers have the proper expectations to avoid confusion like this scam thread.

Tautologies is correct, in that those who supported the project with largest pledge were buying personal support for their own build, insight we gain from others building, and our videos series. Many of these backers have reached out to us and we are all helping each other build which is awesome and highly educational for everyone including our selves as there are many ways to go about getting the same outcome.

Those who pledge (supported us) with any pledge other than the largest pledge will be emailed our articles on what we have learned, are doing, and our video series.
The project closed only a few weeks ago, and it does take time to gear up and start working with backers to gain insight. We also had to order parts and are waiting on them unfortunately as well. But things are picking up with Part 3 video coming out shortly of our test board build, then part 4 of us testing riding with various prop and gear setups.

In fact, one of our backers has helped create the coolest Excel calculator so you can enter your volts, motor KV, gear ratio and speed, and a prop size and pitch will be calculated. We are putting this to the test over the next week with live testing to confirm but very exciting stuff and only backers will have access to these handy tools, tips and tricks.

Hope this helps clear things up? As, this project is not a scam. We are simply here to share our build, and help those who need and want our input so more riders can experience an eFoil.
