I have a lot of hours on the Zeeko Black and White, Zeeko Black and White with Carver wing, Spitfire with standard wings, and Spitfire with XLW wings.

I come from a surf background and mainly want to carve turns. My favorite of the bunch is the Spitfire with XLW wings.

I feel like the the Spitfire trades some straight line stability for excellent turns. The traditional Black and White excels in a straight line but lacks in the turns compared to the Spitfire.

Spitfire with standard wings is like riding a twintip or mutant in waves and with the XLW wings it is like riding waves on surfboard.

If I could only have one set of wings I would go XLW.

I typically ride the XLW wings in waves and the standard wings in flat water.

Hi tswierkocki

I use and like very much the Carver wing. But I’m curious about the Spitfire XLW. But I do not know if it really makes the difference in small waves, mainly wind waves. I’m kiting in the Mediterranean area.

Wha do you think? Is it worth the money?

Thank you very much

OT: And do you foil out of Oleander [South Cole] most of the time? Thought the sculpture in signature looked familiar...

Coming from a surfing background the Carver felt like it needed too much front foot pressure to carve a turn. I wanted to be able carve with a similar feeling to surfing.

I only rode the Carver once after getting the Spitfire with XLW wings so for me it was worth the money to switch.

I ride the Spitfire in ocean waves, wind waves and flat water.

I also just got a surf foil so it will be interesting to see how it compares to the Spitfire.

Hi

What's about the low-end in comparison of xlw to carver?

Thanks again

I would say it's about the same if not slightly better on the XLW because the XLW accelerates and builds apparent wind faster and you can pop it up harder on takeoff without fear of breaching

I agree. XLW wings were a direct replacement for the Carver wing for me.

This thread from 2017, what is the latest regarding canards?

Lots of stoke about these, they turn more like a surfboard with rear foot pressure (stated, I dont know), more efficient and safe.

We dont see any around here, so no local feedback, and I rode the first small one for one and a half month, but it was too small for my liking to use in waves.

Some have had these for 2 years now, what are the experiences ups and downs of the canards, now they have ridden a lot?

Some who have converted back to std wing setup, and some who has just changed, and some might have changed to canards a long time ago I assume.

(and a few are riding stabless instead now, so they dont have to care ha haa  )

I still dont see other brands going that route though - so difficult to know how "well" they work in general
But as the majority of brands, at least US, are going the safe low cost copy route, it does not necessarily mean canards are "out".

I have heard people say pitch control at higher speeds is more difficult with them
