Just wondering, it seems the Zeeko canards works awesome and everyone is excited about these :D

Curious now, why no more brands offer canards ?

Too early, or some downsides too ?

Sorry, cant help wondering if one or another :-?

I've drawn up a sup/surf canard , as soon as I get some CNC time I'm gonna make one

likewise ... and I especially wonder for sup / surf, as the benefits seem even more applicable there. I haven't yet found an answer if there's a design or performance reason for not going there, or people just not trying it.

Blackrat: our local crew seems on the verge of doing some experimenting with the sup foil version too. Start with just turning regular wings around seeing what happens, then go from there.

Just by chance, yesterday, a friend who is a distributor of Solidworks , told me that he wants to make an FEA example for an hydrofoil wing.
If you (or anybody) have the different 3D wing models to compare, let me know and I'll ask him if he would like to do the job on those models.

The bigger question, Peter, is why don’t you have one already??????

I've been riding the Spitfire exclusively for a little over two months. I haven't found anything negative about the design. Only positives.

I personally know of 4 pilots, 2 of which are VERY skilled who have owned canards and now do not!
Seems simple enough to test your favorite standard set up and then compare to a canard.
Maybe the same question could be asked to KBHF racers and industrial aircraft?
Ever flown on a commercial canard plane, or even seen one?

RH, one can not compare to airplanes, for several reasons.

The "deep stall" risk can be critical - nonexistent problem on a hydrofoil.
The issue with missing leverage for a rudder to turn efficiently - nonexistent on a hydrofoil.

So at least two of the major issues with canard airplanes are not present on a hydrofoil.

For human powered aircraft, canards are used as they are lighter and more efficient, you dont waste lift on stability like on a normal stabilizer that has zero or negative lift.

When we use a canard on the water, the target is to get more reactivity and more rear foot pressure - especially for turning and waves, and this is where the canard could excel :thumb:

But of course, only riding them for a longer time can tell whether you like it or not :naughty:
