I was out today for 2018 premier for me in S Sweden. 3c air, water colder I think. Wind 5-7 ms. Cloudy and quite hazy. Moderate chop.
I put on the 590/330 wing and used a Mono 12 on 23m lines. It was a great session with some 35km/hr runs and really slow transitions. What I'm finding is just before transition I can pinch up wind, keeping kite low and speed low, the crank the kite around and turn/ accelerating into the carve. Going into transition with lower speed is making it easier. Same approach in heelside and toeside turns. The 550 won't take such low speed into start of turn.
It took some adjustment to the roll stability, I'm so used to the 550 being looser in the roll, that I'm having to be less loose hipped with 590. Hard to explain, but it's like riding a skateboard with tight trucks, compared to loose trucks.
The wing was humming a bit. The 550 is deadly silent. The wing looks so lovely I didn't want to sand it or paint it, but I closed my eyes and wet sanded with 400 and put a coat of primer on it. I'll wet sand 400-800 tomorrow.
Grateful to be on the water again and daylight saving time tonight, so we can kite after work.
