Anyways Gunner, today was interesting and very enjoyable, only the 3 of us out on the foils, one or two kite surfers and one windsurfer, a bit different from the 40 or 50 kite surfers you normally find, must have been the challenging off shore conditions, and this must be the first time I have ever been seen on the water with the smallest kite, my 8mtr Reo was spot on along with the tips from yourself, them waves were the icing on the cake today, tried to get Andy to turn up with his Moses kit but he wimped out and turned up with his weightlifting kit made by xxxxxxxxot, tide had turned so he gave it up anyways,

One of the more special sessions.
A short one though, but actually only because the deck of the board was getting icy splippery which felt a bit uncomfortable and limiting control which is an issue especially with some pieces of ice floating here and there.
5m Hyperlink was well powered.
Not sure if the Comet had to cut any ice, in case it did a great job.
One to remember.

Cheers

You are mad Frank, those temps are for snow- and icekiting.
Not hydroiling, haha. I wait for temperatures above 5deg if you don't mind.

Of course don’t mind, but not for me.
It was actually quite good today, until the deck was covered in ice.
Washing it off in the salt water did work still, but after 30 seconds it was all frozen and slippery again. Had to call it a day to stay safe.
Brainstorming about board with heating system now.
-6C it was by the way.

On the flip side of the weather- flag beach road was obliterated by a sand storm whipped up by 50knt winds, waves were 4mtr, temps at 23c so no ice or snow.
There were waves on our villa swimming pool.
On ballance,nicer problems to have.

:D had exactly the same experience last week, hoping more salt would be better but didn't seem to work. So trying BraCuru's idea next time

But surprisingly it was possible to handle some flying tacks and jibes when landing with back foot on the deck ice plate. It is the same when crossin iceplates on the freewheel: as long all forces are balanced in a line, slippery ice doesn't matter.

To get back to topic:
Thought again about 633 wing and while I still think it would be to big for me for normal kiting.
I think it would be worth to try for heavier rider, to use it as monofoil with a 70 or 90 cm strut. It should be "very easy" in compare to other wings. (If you are lucky, moses has still some prototyp fuselages around so you maybe could get one to cut, so no need to cut a expensive serial one if you start liking momo. Did the same with another brand.)

Maybe one of the 633 owners is interested to try.

To get a taste of it with the 633 a full length fuselage won't hurt too much I would think?
When I tried with other wings before of course I got interested by the new challenge, but what I do not really understand yet is what has been described before about much lower drag and what benefit that should provide?
Especially when using bigger surface area (more drag) wings, compared to very low drag high-aspect ones... But maybe it is the same as with bikes, I clearly prefer two wheels.

Yesterday was maybe the end of winter session here, but a proper one:

Cheers,
Frank
