... Moses foils with Slingshot logos are last year Moses models and priced more than this year Moses models so I would never buy Slingshot. But a lot of people don't know it and just buys the brand.
I agree on October 2017 Slingshot line - whoever advocated “fast, high jumping wings” (by snapping 2016/2017 Moses racewings stock right before Moses announced 649 fuselage, 637/590/633/683S wings etc) didn’t do company a good service. At least I personally had a facepalm moment last October seeing the new line as I was buying 548 and was craving for more lift, more lowend wings.
But also bunch of foilers on the forum back then were giving me “oh, large wings are for beginners, you just need to learn to ride” speech and today large wings are have taken over foiling market, driving the sales and freeride foilers love them.

And what if someone told you that some of the best Moses wings are Slingshot design. 590/633 are the miracles to thank for all the designers/gods and they’re still current, even though Slingshot had 7 month delay on them.
Slingshot 590/633 are prettier, show more carbon and don’t look like a piece of plastic (an opportunity to improve for Moses) so there's reason to prefer home brand.

Slingshot missed an opportunity to come ahead of Moses as they could have been the company releasing 873 (as they did release 86/84 HG wings) and 81cm mast and 32”/36/42” pocket boards like KS does (who in the world wants carbon hypermiller which is neither light, nor is a race foilboard).
And Slingshot should have been the first making “larger/thicker than 590” wing for 647/680 fuselage to revert the trend (GW riders snapping 590’s all 2018 spring/summer long).

Should have, could have, would have is not a winner talk but guys are not blind, they know prices and offering of Moses - competition does miracles to consumers and there's a lot to expect in 2019.

I prefer Moses painting much more because it's repair friendly. Easy to make an ideal repair finish with paint. Try to do that with carbon texture.

Visual looks depend on taste and I personally love the bold MOSES logo on the mast. But for sure somebody prefers not so bold look of other brands.

Another important thing that with Moses you have the full range and service if you need to replace some component or upgrade. That's very different to the lack of flexibility when riding a brand that just resells some of the range. Sure, one can always make frankensteins by mixing multiple brands, but it's not something the majority wants.

Wing design is one thing a lot of people are involved, but the entire delivery chain of top foils is another thing. That's what Moses owns and they are doing really good. That's why other brands desire to put their logos on Moses foils. Even if they are late a year :)

Pricing will be interesting to watch. Moses is no discount brand and a lot of people like it as it means the investment in new gear do not depreciate at the end of the season. Slingshot is a well know brand that dumps hard at the end of season and sells way lower than RRP during the season. It will be interesting to see how it evolves.

I just spent 2 weeks foiling in Brazil at Parajuru on the 633. It was fantastic riding waves and swell downwind. Learned gybes and flying footswitch in both directions with aggressive carves.

I could pop up in chest high water and fly out along the river channel and over 50cm sand reefs to open water then upwind 6 km to next village, riding waves in hidden smooth pools at river mouth along the way, then back downwind riding swells the whole way..
I called it wave hunting. There were 2 other learning foilers there but I had to go alone.

Moses 633 is magic.

What are the different uses for the two kite fuselages the 647 and 680?

680 is 2016-2017 fuselage with pointy nose and tail.
647 was fuselage announced in 2017 as 2018 gear. Same dimension between all the mounts/holes and fits same wings. A bit safer without nose and tail sticking out.

680 catches way more seaweed between the nose and the wing too.

Tried the new huge 873 wing - not good for kite foiling, great for foil surfing. Too much lift on front like the Lift 200 wing. Had high hopes for this one, but was disappointing for kiting.

Tested the 683 wing for a while - not good for kite foiling. Maybe ok for foil surfing. Not a well balanced wing.

Tested the 633 wing for a while - great for kite foiling and big wave kite foiling. Doesn't outrun bigger waves. Only caveat is having a long enough mast track to put in the back for proper balance. I like the 170 Lift wing better than this wing - more carvy and fun, boosts better, backloops better, tacks better, but just a tiiiny bit faster on a wave.

I've ridden the 590 about 50 hours, the 633 for 70+ hours. Tried a friends Impulse for 30 min.
You gotta realise the board has a huge influence..
But Lf Impulse is very similar to 633 on lift and stability, but not as fast thru the water. It felt way less agile, but rear wing was on back setting, and he had the massively big 145 galaxy board, while mine is 120. so board was influential.

Thanks Tom, I am not ready to replace my impulse but I am trying to find a new foil set up for my wife who is 130lbs. I want to give her the same advantages as I realized once I switched to the impulse but without instantly overpowering her. Right now she is using the rocket wings but they just don't seem to be giving her the advantage of glide through the turns. She is comfortable foiling but cannot seem to fly her gybes and if she does get going again toe side is very shaky. I know some of this is just time practicing but the difference the impulse made for me was noticeable in the first day.
I'd like to giver her a leg up if you know what i mean. Any suggestions?
