Ive been meaning to put on the 590 again, but every time i get to the beach the wind is pretty light and theres a lot of sea grass. We get this sea grass called Eel Grass.
6529.jpg
and then individual fronds get hung up on front wing- lots of them, and also collect on the mast. I try to get them off by jerking side-by side, but they just stick on.
The 590 collects so much and stops flying.

I'm curious how sales of 558, 550 and 548 are going. I know many folks were swearing by those wings but in means of voting with a wallet it'd be interesting to know what's up with those

I am with the folks who believe you need a fast wing as well as the wave wing 633.
which fast wing is personal choice, all those wings above are great, all are fast.(I have in the recent past owned them all)
But the race wing 637 feels faster and smoother at speed, the only downside for me are the sharpish ends and the sudden stall at what is quite a slow speed but it still makes me wince just before it stalls and drops like a stone, That's not a bad thing as it makes me keep the speed up in the turns.
For massive open stretches of flattish open water in strong winds you can put on a much bigger kite and really push your speed and upwind angles, gusts are no problem as the wing rides so level, you just accelerate.
so only owning a 633 wave wing would not suit all conditions and vice versa.
And another good thing about owning both the 633 and the 637 is you don't need to change mast position, they both work off the same position.

Need some help with my new Moses Onda 91 position. I am currently riding the small 3'6 dwaftcraft and wondering the ideal mast position relative to the front foot. I would appreciate any measurements from the back of the board to the back edge of the pedestal and to the center front foot position. Worried the board might too small?

I ride this setup strapless with mast all the way back. Have not tried straps yet. Tou can allways shim rearwing or mast fuselage connection.

You should be fine. Put the mast all the way back.
My pedestal is about 90mm from the tail, the holes 135mm from the tail. I use a rear foothook- which i dont really use so could remove it. I positioned the mast to be able to the the rear foothook.
without it I could have moved another 50mm back.

I’m riding 42” Dwarfcraft 2016 and with 633 wing my back foot is over the rear mast plate bolt (4.5 position on my board)
With 590 I move the mast so my big toe is over rear mast plate bolt (7.5 position on my board)

My back foot is always back to the kicker and front foot is just behind frontmost center strap attachment hole. I guess that will depend on your height too.

On pictures below is my mast position for 590 wing (at 7.5). The 633 mast position is 4.5.
The mast I have in the picture and my Moses masts match rear hole/edge position, just for a confirmation. No shimming either.

I ride strapless but my feet do have a sweet spot on the board and I rather move the mast by 1cm to fine tune position rather than stepping elsewhere

Any insider info?

Tnx,

I measured my boards. And my foot placement strapless in relation to mast. I can do this by looking at discolouration of my white deck pad. My front foot is generally about 50mm more forward with the 633 than 590.

New 633 Onda owner here (71cm; my riding is almost 100% shallow OBX soundside). Got mine from Adam Super at Session Sports in South Carolina. Highly recommend him. Novice coming from a 600ish sq cm RRD H-flight foil and the larger LF Happy foil board. Not much to add to the many comments on this amazing foil. Ordered a Groove Skate back on 9-7 but wasn’t sure when it would show up so I slapped together a very quick-and-dirty Franken board from a prehistoric eps-epoxy-glass kite twin tip I’ve had since 2001 (I guess that really dates me🤪). I just eyeballed and chopped, reglassed the ends and solid epoxied thrubolt holes for the mast plate. Just made sure to set the mast way back on the the board and flat sand all those razor sharp Moses trailing edges before getting wet. $20 skim board pad from Amazon. About 137 cm long, 48cm wide, 3cm thick at the center, and 4.1 kg

I had extremely low expectations on my first session; crude board, new to me foil, very first time attempting strapless water starts, 9m Best Cabo in 11-16 knots. It actually went amazingly well. I’d say I got about 40% of my water start attempts right from the get go. I wear a really low seat harness and have almost what amounts to a non flexing fused lower back so knees to my chest ain’t happening, but the foil sink rate on the Onda with my Franken board provided the needed delay time, even for this spastic oldtimer. Once up it was immediate smile face. On touch downs and short stints of surface riding this foil made my board feel surprisingly solid. I suppose the foil is providing most of the lift even with the board on the water. Heck, if I didn’t have a Groove Skate on the way (Michele said it should ship this week) I’d probably just chop another 10 cm off this beast, maybe enhance the nose scoop and be content for awhile. I think these large area foils would make a piece of curved plywood look pretty good for kite foiling! At least with decent wind

(For any of you old timer US kiteboarders, this board was originally shaped by Pete Nordby, who was killed just a year later in 2002, in a kiteboarding accident. Gear safety has come a long way since then, and I think Pete would be happy looking down seeing one his creations repurposed for active duty)
