I’m not sure the Gong AOA would help. I owned one. Their stab is asymmetric wing at 0 degrees, best I could measure. While other foils I’ve owned had stabs with symmetric foils at angles up to 3 degrees to make lift.

FYI Gong foil is on sale for 799. It’s a good foil. I wish I still had mine.
Can you elborate a bit more on the qualities of Gong foil?
- Build quality
- Riding character
- speed
- easy of use

Any experience with their boards as well?

I am considering to replace my heavy TFF Manta by something else.
Gong is an option, or a carbon Moses.

Since waterdepth is not as easy to memorize on all spots I ride the G10 wings of the Gong are an advantage.

The gong is very high quality. Flawless carbon work. It’s made by sonic composites in China.

The large wings are more stable and easier to learn to jibe. The medium wings feel slightly more efficient. I thought the M4 screws holding the stab were too small. It was easy to bend the screws dropping the foil on the beach. I retapped the brass barrel nuts to M5. The stab was sturdy after doing the mod and I never bent the M5 screws.

The foil was silent running.

I think the whole kit weighed 7lbs if memory is correct.

@Dwight: thanks for the responses. Why did you sell the gong foil if I may ask?

I tried a SUP foil and fell in love. I’m kiting with the Naish SUP foil.

What?
A SUP set up on your foil board sounds like a mistake, now I am confused.
I have seen the SUP wings, they are Massive, so very thick and Blunt edges, but you like the way it sails.
Tell us why? Is it something that we should try? Why do you like it so much?
I am wondering if I am missing out on something.

We discovered how fun it is to ride these SUP wings after buying them to SUP, then using them with a kite on days we could not SUP. You can feel the wave energy transmit through the foil 10x more than a kite foil. It feels like surfing on a foil. Very cool and a new way to have fun. I use a 70cm mast for the SUP foil.

I kept my tall mast, fast, gong foil for days when I might get bored using the SUP foil , but I found myself using the SUP foil 95% of the time, so I sold my gong foil.

I have found a few new SUP foils complete with Tuttle box and plate mount adaptor for less than £600 new, not carbon of course.
The Naish set up from "King of water-sports" (with unwanted board) is priced up at over £3200, yikes!
I am at Flag Beach from Thursday and will bump into Gunner (Gb) on this forum, so will seek his advice and see if I can hire a rig to fit my board.

Ok guys,
My little Wixo digital angle gauge gauge arrived and its arrival set me to work to find out if there was a noticeable difference between a Standard Moses wing angle of attack against my shed built modification, which involved replacing the carbon Moses wing for a indestructible G10 Gong Wing which worked but sailed rather strangely.
After reporting this strange behaviour I found a site which was clearly saying if I was even 1 degree of attack angle out from the correct angle I would be unhappy with its performance.
Well it came as no big surprise to discover my modification was 2.8 degrees out, sitting at 0.4 deg instead of the standard Moses angle of 3.2 degrees.
But after a little bit of shimming work I now have it at 3 degrees.
So now the acid test will be over the next few days, wind forecast is perfect at 15 - 20 mph, sun is out,
air temp Is a refreshing 3c.
Fingers are crossed.
Any progress on this? Tempted to get a set of big G10 gong wings for my moses mast and fuselage.

Nothing to report as yet due to the adverse weather here in the UK, and me popping off to Flag beach every 3-4 weeks, I have a set of Moses gear stored out there and the G10 Gong wing stays back home waiting for better weather for me to play around with the many different combinations of gear I seem to be collecting.
But I do expect a good level of performance from the medium Gong wing now I have the AOA sorted out, it is a very nicely finished wing, looks top quality.
