maybe I am off base but if you are at max foil height and can't make it come down ... that sounds like you have too much kite for the conditions. If your new wings have more surface area and are lower aspect, maybe you need to drop a kite size?

Good thinking but it's nothing to do with kite size, kite was not pulling, in fact I was holding it with one hand fully sheeted out, hardly any speed, and it still remained high, it has to be the wing angle, or/and the centre of effort may be a little to far forward, which I can easily move back if that needs adjusting as well,

Below is the test rig I have set up to test the attack angle when the digital angle gizmo arrives this week, the video explains that if this is even 1deg out it makes a big difference.

You have the medium wing. Why not the large? Or were you trying to replace /replicate the moses 548?

Simply to replicate the 548, but a bomb proof one.
Depending on how it works out, and after I have the angles sorted, other gong wings will be considered.

Ok guys,
My little Wixo digital angle gauge gauge arrived and its arrival set me to work to find out if there was a noticeable difference between a Standard Moses wing angle of attack against my shed built modification, which involved replacing the carbon Moses wing for a indestructible G10 Gong Wing which worked but sailed rather strangely.
After reporting this strange behaviour I found a site which was clearly saying if I was even 1 degree of attack angle out from the correct angle I would be unhappy with its performance.
Well it came as no big surprise to discover my modification was 2.8 degrees out, sitting at 0.4 deg instead of the standard Moses angle of 3.2 degrees.
But after a little bit of shimming work I now have it at 3 degrees.
So now the acid test will be over the next few days, wind forecast is perfect at 15 - 20 mph, sun is out,
air temp Is a refreshing 3c.
Fingers are crossed.

Image
The standard Moses Wing, 3.2 deg

Image
The incorrect angle of 0.4 deg set by eye alone, not the best angle to set for the Gong wing,

Image
At this angle of attack the sailing experience should be much better.

That's a good start, but the Gong wing may need a different AoA. You could contact Going and ask them what their set up has for AoA.

I’m not sure the Gong AOA would help. I owned one. Their stab is asymmetric wing at 0 degrees, best I could measure. While other foils I’ve owned had stabs with symmetric foils at angles up to 3 degrees to make lift.

FYI Gong foil is on sale for 799. It’s a good foil. I wish I still had mine.

hi Dwight . . . did you have the Medium Front wing and Medium Stab?

Can you tell me what sort of speeds it was capable of . . . the website says 5 - 20 knots for 75kg - 95 kg rider which seems lowish to me.

I am considering getting a set.

I had the medium and large wing sets, and stab sets. I never measured speed. It was faster than 20 knots.

Can I ask what you are riding nowadays?
