More work for the lawyers - anyone notice the comment under the Youtube vid ( actual Youtube page of this vid ) in Chris G's original post ? Comment was made by SBS - Sailing Booster System a week ago, pretty far down the list of comments.
There is a Brazilian naval engineer ( Manoel Chaves -
http://sbssystem.com.br/ who has already patented a mid-ship hinged pair of hydrofoils for displacement and semi-displacement monohulls.
TNZ may be infringing on this patent with their AC75 design concept ??

Different concept as well as implementation judging by the video teases, litigation unlikely. Unless the Brazilian is rich stubborn and dumb, which is perhaps possible

A patent covers the expression of an idea, not the idea itself.
If he has a patent on something like that, he is going to have a really hard time trying to get anything out of the AC guys. They are excellent sailors, and are even better in the courtroom.

Oh please, that Brazilian system nothing like what the new AC rule proposes.
It’s for foil assist, to work with a short length displacement keel in conjunction with a traditional rudder
The AC proposal is nothing of the sort.
Anyway just about everything seen in previous AC boats has been built and designed by others before without law suits flying around, rigid wings, foils, carbon load path sails.
