looking for large volume but light board

I really like large volume for "underpowered" water starts but the weight of my Alien Air is killing me as I have to do a fair amount of carrying. Also fighting with it in the water is painful.

So I want a board that is foil specific with features like some nose rocker, beveled rails and maybe double concave hull, multiple strap options, etc. but it has to be big volume and LIGHT.

Your input is greatly appreciated as always.

Hear you on the Alien....width makes it even tougher. My girlfriend is learning on that with the slingshot hover setup and the combo weighs a huge amount.

Moses t-60 board is a good compromise of size and weight. Unfortunately many of the carbon boards that lean toward this configuration are quite expensive. I am having my next one custom built by a local guy which is a great way to get one at a reasonable cost.

Contact George at Delta Hydrofoil, his boards are crazy light and he can build them however you want. Worth spending the money on a setup that's built by hand to spec if you have the resources.

I looked at the Moses T-60 and agree that it comes close to what I am looking for. I would like a bit more volume and tracks for mounting.

i wanted a Moses T60, but with rails. I had a Temavento made for me that is very similar to the current SYNC board that he is making. I honestly can't fault it, beautifully made and ideal for freeride foiling. If you buy a Temavento you will not be sorry.

Axis 48 - best board IMO based on what you are looking for. I also like the Moses T60, but not having tracks is a deal breaker for me.

I have no affiliation with Axis but their new ride 48 is nice.

I ride a 118 pocket board (30mm thick) as prefer the small size but have been looking at other boards that would provide a better solution for the dodgy wind days.


My friend who has just started learning has the Axis 48 (and the axis alloy masts and foil) and let me have a go on the board using my own foil. I have to say that it feels light for its size (about 3.5kg), stiff and handles touch downs with ease. It makes a sound like it has a polystyrene core though I could be wrong. Unfortunately, the day I used it, it was windy so I never really got to test it in the way I had wanted to however it felt great up on the foil in terms of ease to throw around and touching down on occasion.

Footstraps are very basic but functional.

The strap inserts seem quite far apart and more suited to a racer style setup assuming you ride with the rear strap. Furtherest rear plug of front footstrap to furtherest forward plug of rear footstrap is 52cm. Unlike the board in the pic on their website, my friend's board has four insert positions for the front footstrap.
