Kosta,
You're pretty funny, jumping out windows and stuff falling out of the sky on your head.
I'm firmly convinced you can do it.
But believe cnc is the way to go for making soft tooting

But if you already have a 3d printer.......Also cnc is a messy game compared to 3dp. Having said that I would like to have a 5x10ft cnc.

Off topic. I'm considering a 1000 mm x 1500mm for milling soft materials. Using the OX system. I have a heated garage. Cnc costs about 18-25k euros...it's a fairly steep investment in money and time. Doing reading and research this year in preparation.

Tom,

good question, possible that you have a surface that needs a lot of work to be finished. If I would know all of this, I would work for the NASA in the mars programm. But I do have an idea in which direction the tain will move

tks

Kosta,
thank you for sharing your observations of wing specifics. I have been waiting a long time to hear such relevant notes on observed foil designs(pg 3) from someone other than myself on this forum. The subtleties of what makes a hydrofoil behave nicely are very elusive indeed. I feel profiles and AOA s, especially changing throughout the span of a foil and stab, are simple observations that are at the root of high end performance at any speed.

there is a chance you might get more input from the builders forum with your next topic, maybe not

Please keep sharing your findings
thanks, Dirk

Found a nice tutorial for nubes like me on how to use the airfoil to .dat add-in in Fusion 360.

And this other guy shows how he made a wing in Fusion.

Greetings,

drawing wings in Fusion 360 drove me nuts. Especially when the surface is not straight. What I also could not get handled is importing *.*dat files. There is a plugin to import NACA but that is pretty much all.

All guys and girls building our own stuff are on a long way to Amarrilo. For this you need balls like the bells of notre dame.

tks

Kosta

Kosta, you are born comedian.

Is this the way to Amarillo?
Ev'ry night I've been huggin' my pillow
Dreamin' dreams of Amarillo
And sweet Marie who waits for me
Show me the way to Amarillo
I've been weepin' like a willow
Cryin' over Amarillo
And sweet Marie who waits for me.

Yeah!

Building your own stuff is not the easy way to learn any of it

At least carbon is such a pleasure to work with and gallons and gallons of epoxy are so completely carefree

Phew , , it's a wonder I still want to ride the things after what I put myself through!

Seems like the right thread to show my PLA mold attempt.
This stab may be the first usable thing I've built. :)

I designed the mold in Fusion 360, sprayed it with sandable primer ( not sure if this was necessary) , waxed it, filled the mold and squeezed the mold together.

Next time I think I'll build the mold upside down so that the more curved part of the wing is the bottom, so gravity will help fill it.
Also, my alignment dowels in Fusion were not exact enough so they just got in the way. The wing plug I did before with out dowels came out better, so I will leave them off next time and just align the outside edges of the mold.

This stab was about 1/3 inch thick, it worked no problem.
