Why pro-riders move the hip forwards?

Postby ariel_cloud » Mon Jan 01, 2018 3:27 am

Happy 2018 guys,
Why pro-riders move the hip forwards while going upwind? It is to put more weight at the front or the curved body shape reduce the resistance?
Thanks
Ariel

Because the are holding a tone of power?. I've found myself in a similar position when super powered cranking upwind.

Cause they are lit in their seat harnesses, and obsurdley huge kites for the wind they are in...going at blitz speed, all the weight is in the front leg to keep the wing down

It’s a race to get the best upwind angle...hence short lines and big kites

Surely they'd get more weight on the front foot by moving the torso forwards too?

Could it be they're just driving the board upwind?

yeah that's the upwind stand when riding mega powered. Think 15m kite in 18 knots.

Driving the board upwind. No other reason.

I am thinking this would also depend on how the foil is trimmed/tuned as some foils or the way they are set causes them to lift more as the speed increases.
