Wing sizes for kite/surf/SUP

I'm just getting going on a DIY foil with 900cm2 wing (70cm span) using the kite. I've tried to surf foil it, but need a bit more lift for the small slow waves at my local spot. So i decided to build a 1400cm2 wing (also around 70cm span). After seeing the photo below, I'm wondering if 1400 is big enough? Check the span on that wing! With more guys using slower surf wings for kite-foiling I was wandering what the current ranges are for each sport? I know lift depends on other factors like profile, but just talking ball-park ranges:

Kite: ? - 1400cm?
Surf: 750-1600cm?
SUP-surf: 1200-?
SUP-dw: ?

Your weight is the deciding factor as to what foil you can use.

For kite (surfing) with a hydrofoil (average weight rider) I would say wave wings from 600 up to 900 cm2 fits my liking, dependant on wind and wave conditions.

Go Foil Kai model is 1200 cm2. The new Iwa wing is 1600. I think that one in the picture is the Maliko 200, which means 2000 cm2. They also make a 2800 cm2 Maliko, maybe that is the one in the picture. The Malikos are meant for downwind. The Takuma v100 is around 1500.

So the 1000 to 1400 wings would have too much lift? Maybe for carving on slower swell? I'm 90kg plus wet 4/3 suit.

You can paddle in just fine on a Maliko 280. The resistance is minimal. Just once its up you don't want to be anywhere near the breaking part of the wave as the lift it produces is way too much to keep down unless you weigh 100kg plus. Also it is not warrantied for surf.

This is a takeoff from a small wave and then continuing on in virtually nothing with the 280.

I'm thinking about trying SUP hydrofoil here in Sweden. But am very sceptical. We have super small waves and break in shallow water, but know a spot with swells before they break. On other hand we have days with 20knots wind and decent windswell and an openwater downwinder might be fun.

What set up would work?

No, it is not that, they just become way too boring and slow when approaching 1000 cm2 (or similar in overall lift), thats why I choose smaller wings when more wind and for some waves - for allround wavekitehydrofoiling it is more fun for me.

Others like these huge wings it seems, so just different likings and styles

For hydrofoilsurf or SUP it is a totally different case I would say - nothing in common and two different sports requiring very different sizes.

I love the diversity though, in what we all prefer

Depending on your weight Maliko 200 or 280.
