Just an update to say that I have found rear foot placement following the tack is a contributing factor. I have not been placing my new rear foot back far enough for effective input/control.

I think this is very true, both for jibes and tacks.

More power though, makes everything a lot easier, as you have more time and footpressure do not make such a horrible negative impact

But all'n all it is about A LOT OF TIME, practising this over and over, till you get it (or get it better).

For jibing, you can actually do it without kitesupport at all - eventhough (I found it) quite difficult, but it will come to you eventually after some years :thumb:

Personally I found the foiling jibe easier to learn first.. not that it was easy. I still always have to remind myself to get my new back foot back close to the back foot strap.

There are more things going on in the foiling tack than the foiling jibe and I still find it difficult to foil through my tacks. Staying up on the foil requires everything to work perfectly.
As foilonfoil says above, one of the last things to concentrate on is getting your foot back at the end of the tack far enough to keep foiling. The tack is a fun move since most other foilers just jibe and the tack seems to be a more special move.

Tacking videos that I found well worth watching:
