unless you race do not get the chrono. the HL is the best foil kite ever. incredibly easy to rig up, easy water relaunch, a joy to fly. at 73kg in 7 knots i start to foil. the amazing foilers get going a lot earlier with the HL

100% agree!
Did you have connections to ozone or why are you limited on them?
As you said hating sand on the wet kite, maybe a speed4 lotus from flysurfer would be a cheep alternative!
For more performance it also could be a speed5...

have owned 3 fly surfer kites, spent many sessions on the f-one foil also. I'm constantly looking for a improvment to what I'm flying at the moment. in the last 10 month been flying and the owner of 2 cloud kites, the one strut norths and the search goes on, and on.........as traveling in may I have to decide what to take, at the moment for low wind the HL for me is the choice....of course if a new kite is flown that is a improvement on the HL the new one would be my choice

So out of interest - for pure low end are we saying Hyperlink 12m is as good as Chrono 13m? Not just for foiling, in general?

For pure low end planning, assuming that conditions are not 100 % perfect like it is often in real life, you would need the shape of the HL and the cloth of the Ultralight ... so the HL in Ultralight (or even better Concept'air Pulsion , even lighter with a thinner profile apparently, but maybe more fragile)

Ozone created the original Chrono as their race kite. Then it evolved into the R1 race kite and a new Chrono v2 was in created which was much more user friendly. Recently Ozone has announced a new Chrono v3.

It would help in a topic like this if contributors would specify which Chrono they are talking about. It would also help if they specified how they formed their opinions. .. did they spend much time flying them? I have been flying my 9m and 13m Chrono v2 kites for two years now and I rate them highly for performance and ease of use. I have only briefly tried the ultralight version and I couldn't tell the difference but of course it will probably stay up better in very light wind. I have been kiting for many years and I have owned other foil kites from Concept Air and Flysurfer. I have not tried the Hyperlink.

So I was interested in 13m Chrono V2 vs 12m Hyperlink. I would consider getting a Hyperlink if the low end was as good / better and it was easier to deal with / faster turning. I was up until now of the belief that if low end is the requirement then Chrono V2 was the better option.

I guess I was always more intimidated by the chrono for my style of riding. as for better low end I just find the HL easier to deal with, easier to relaunch, and more user friendly.
of course the chrono goes up wind more efficiently but I'm not really that interested in going up wind more efficiently. I cannot compare the chrono 12 with the HL as I only rode the 11m chrono and the 15m chrono.

Your input is good info, have you tried the Pulsion and how would you compare that for Chronos you have?

I had the Chrono V2 15M Ultralight for a while and now the Hyperlink 12M Ultralight. I find the extreme low end to be the same on hydrofoil at 85kg. except the HL hangs in the air better because it's lighter and more forgiving profile super stable at the edge of the window and never ever tip collapses or loses pressure. The HL is more reactive and fun to fly and way less scary to loop in transitions... I can easily hold the HL above 15knots where I was in survival mode with the Chrono 15. For speed and old school jumping (hangtime) the Chrono is the ticket there is no comparison.

I'm favoring 17M lines and -5CM on the steering lines with HL. I think ozone could go even more C shape with HL v2 for the freeride HF market

The bottom line HL is a super friendly easy going kite with a ton more performance than LEIs in larger sizes
