12m hyperlink or 11m chrono ultralight??

Postby Herge_hamilton » Sun Feb 18, 2018 1:00 pm

Hi all,

I am after a kite for those 8-14 knt days. I am on a mosses vorace with a 458/ 560 wing selection. About a year of foiling and progressing along. 80kgs

I have options on a hyperlink 12m or a chrono ultralight. 11m.

I have very little foil kite experience hence the hyperlink, but the ultralight appeals as will fly better on the lower wind range.

Given my lack of foil kite experience if I drop the chrono I am less likely to get it up and will be swimming more than I do with my lei.

Any thoughts?

Take the Hyperlink, is much easier to handle and it stays long enough in the air, unbelievable nice foil kite

I have no experience with a Chrono. A 9m Hyperlink in regular cloth stays in the air easy and works fine for me in the conditions you are after. The number one thing that ends a session for me is landing the kite in wet sand and getting a sandy coating on the kite. I wonder if Ultralight sticks less sand? Lotus cloth was very nice in this department.

If you want to sort this Sticky cloth out, you can coat the cloth with Nanoprom Seal and Glide. It Works fine and help a bit relaunching as well.

both kites are second hand at the same price, couldn’t afford a new hyperlink ultra light although it would be nice !

Both kites are good.
Chrono is slightly better upwind and has a higher top speed.

Hyperlink is slightly more stable with slightly faster turning.

PS I've flown Chrono and hyperlink but not ultralight Chrono

Having read through all you said above, I would recommend the Hyperlink.
My personal choice too.

Cheers,

I find my Chrono v2 kites easy to fly and I recommend them to anyone (except racers who would want the R1 race kite). Do not buy a used Chrono v1 as it was more of a race kite and less stable.
I have not flown a hyperlink.
