First off, lets compare apples to apples. The CR:X board is totally suitable for Foil. For one, it was designed by a professional "With over 15 years of board building experience and multiple world cup winning board designs, DK adds another feather to his cap with the creation of the world's first Kiteracing One-design Class."FrederikS wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 11:19 amTried it once and as everyone has already stated it is heavy and slow. The board is not suitable for use on the foil as it is way too soft. It is just as unpredictable as the first generation race foil I had but was impossible to get beyond 20 knots of speed. The TT is probably ok, but it is big and heavy like the F-One entry level trainer boards.
Would rather get an LF foil or pretty much any other entry level kit.
CR:X kites look ok, but are horribly overpriced just like the foil kit.
The weight of the foil (by our in shop scale in pounds/ounces) is 10.8. Slingshot NF2 11.15 Airush CoreV2 8.3 Nobile Infinity 6.15 Shinn F Wing 7.10.
It has the longest mast of that group. If you have ever ridden a Slingshot you would realize the weight has very little effect for free ride foiling.
The weight of the board is comparable with other similarly priced products. All around the 9-10lbs range , Nobile Infinity and the Slingshot Converter. Both dual purpose board that can be ridden without the foil.
Speed. With the advent of large ,early foiling wings ,the speed component has diminished but fun factor has gone way up. Now,while the CR:X is not in that low speed category , it will keep the entry level foiler entertained(low speed/high speed) until he /she ponies up for the serious dollar carbon models (AKA the Oranges).
Price, there is no cheaper option currently available than the CR:X. Entry level kiters have a hard time justifying spending around Two Grand for something they can't do and not sure they will like(most everyone of course is stocked when they learn). We have a short mast package available as well to speed up the learning curve.
As for the overpriced kite comment , stay tuned .The CRX kites 13,10 and 7m are arriving mid April with unbeatable pricing!
