Anti-slip material on foil board. Where to buy?

Postby Kitemanmuc » Mon Apr 23, 2018 1:58 pm

Working on building a hydrofoil at the moment and always liked the sandy grip tape type deck over pads. Temavento always had perfect grip on their decks. Does anyone know what material they were using or similar?

If you building just use resin and sugar.

No idea, but if you want a sandy finish, sprinkle some epsom salt in a hot-coat of epoxy on the deck then wash it off once it's cured. Instant skateboard deck.

Just make sure you use caster sugar and not granulated. Granulated will give you a deck like 40 grit abrasive that will sand off the soles of your feet...I made that mistake once.

If sugar coat nonskid comes out too coarse you could just lightly sand it, or spray a coat or two of polyurethane on top....

Check out online "traction pad". Some surf shops sell then in a roll that you can custom cut. And they come with adhesive backing.

Table salt is my preferred material to make a non skid deck finish. It is not as coarse as Sugar.

There's a clear adhesive film that's like the salt deck, but it's of course rubber of some sort so it's less coarse. I used it on my Dialer and loved it, and it lasted ages. Oh VersaTraction kind of stuff.

My Axis board has proper "salt" grip which I thought would chew up my feet but it didn't so I'm pretty sold on that too.
