Jon, will the new SS hooks be of the same design as the RE Hood Hooks? They look like just the ticket

Sharp corners and no curvature to match the shape of my foot? No thanks..
Sharp corners? Try 10 seconds of filing per corner.
Matching curvature of your foot? Seriously? Could glue on some neoprene for padding to make it softer if sensitive feet. Though I guess less of a concern where I live, where booties are unfortunately a year-round need.
This DIY suggestion was about avoiding paying $50US for a single crappy plastic molded one that will break every 5 sessions. But if you are happy to spend the $, the industry is thankful. Me, I have gone strapless.

The Ride Engine "Hoof Hooks" are substantially reinforced with greater thickness , material and a mounting plate . These are different than the Slingshot Half Strap , the RE version will be available soon.FullSizeRender.jpgIMG_7072.JPG
I'm using a pair of the Slingshot Sky hooks on a windsurf board modified for foiling. The only problem I had so far is that the hooks tend to rotate when using the curved slot to mount it (I also windsurf the board with the hooks rather than swapping between hooks/straps) I've extended the central mid hole, so it lines up with the forward hole and the inner end of one of the curved slots (which happens to be the angle I need). With 3 screws in, it stops the hook rotating sideways.
Just mentioning it in case anyone finds the hooks rotate if mounted at an angle using the curved slot. It is less likely when kiting, because there is less sideways force on the hook.
