Hydrofoiling is on a mission of killing the twintips en masse and we will see more variety, more features, more standards and proven solutions.
Your not going to take a hydrofoil on a downwinder in Planet of the Apes.

And you can't do darkslides with a hydrofoil.
I should start with that the video you linked would look much better with a foil. Having 71cm mast he could have more fun there on a foil compared to mowing a lawn on a twintip.

Personally I’ll take my 9m Turbine to planet downwinder any given 25 knots SW day and I’ll ride the crap out of both channels and both Planet and Real slicks :) But I’d ride my 633 with a 9m Rally when guys are going to need a monster door and 17m wing to be able to ride.

The point is I know enough of good riders who would prefer to foil even though we’d all have great boosting fun day. Folks who keep twintips sitting in the car even in 5m conditions and hover around instead. A friend of mine was very skeptical of such claims a year ago and now he’s just like that. Twintip is kept only for smooth, strong boosting days.

Wait until all the guys who just mow it back and forth discover the magic of foiling. They would never get to ramp anyways and once foiling it’ll be one way ticket for them. Foiling is just too hot.

Doors, large LEIs are disappearing and their sales are down. Nobody wants to ride a Zamboni, those times are over.
Boring foiling is way more cool than boring twintipping.

Speaking of planet downwinder I think I should give it a try on a foil :) I had good time between shore and the Rodanthe shipwreck last couple of weeks, I can ride shallow on 71cm mast I think :) Will do in October...
I'm not mowing the lawn even on my biggest kite with a door. If I'm on a kite, I'm getting air. But you are right, I won't be riding a big twintip much anymore if I'm on a 17M kite. POA will be for 12M or smaller kite from now on. Not sure what the point would be of riding a hydrofoil there.

Maybe the first Carafino was a dog, dont know, but the next one soon after worked just dandy and good wings/mast.

Some are still around, perfect for learning and freeride actually :thumb:

Remember how Marek B was saying “what happened to wave wings line? I’m keeping my 4xx 2015 setup!” :)
Even MHL ditched the format just to come back few years later with 130 and 150 wings
Racing boosted but also fooled the foil industry cutting off huge market away

You're not only the one. I was surprised too. It is like Cabrinha would give up with Switchblade or Ozone with Edge.
These wings are probably the wings which have been on sale without any changes the longest period in history of the industry.
However - I got good news - FR425 & FR450 can be ordered despite they are not on the website.
I do have a HP560, and it is a kick in the pants, but there are days and conditions where I am still using the older lower aspect ration wing, and should I get to the point where I'm teaching anyone, I think I would still start them on the lower profile wing so they are not overwhelmed by an accelerating wing setup.
Brother, I feel the same :thumb:
FR425 - so far the best WAVE wing by me.
FR425/FR450 - easier wing to take first steps in foilboarding than any other medium/high AR wings.

Jolly - or maybe we are wrong & old date foilers? Maybe HP560 is easier for beginners than we think?
I wonder to read any feedback from newbies on HP560.

Spot on grigorib, good call :thumb:

What a shame to even mention Manual Carabelo, alias Mango, Manny, Carafino, ect.... :o
All this guy did was to almost copy exactly an air chair after seeing other guys foil waves and most likley also kite with!
He has repeatedly threatened those close to me and for sure is a liar , thief, and merits nothing but forgetting!
Need proof, just l search here and wonder how many guys he ripped OFF!
Although sure hope he comes to Europe, more so France as not only the forces that are, but private persons as well would love to encounter!
Please let this guys name be forgotten!
Want to give credit where it is do?
Have a look at Mike Murphy, this guy was the real deal!

Nowadays we are back to the starting point for many freeriders and waveriders, as now the wings are back to the Carafino shape, same area and low AR - the circle is complete now 11 years later :naughty:
One big difference: drag!

The first Carafino had flat plates as "wings" with no airfoil profile and an oval shaped mast. A total lack of hydrodynamiscs, you needed the same power in the kite as a twintip to keep going so there was no real low-end advantage in this foil. That's a big part of why it didn't cought on back then.

I am already amazed by the low speeds the current race foils can go compared to some years ago, making them also amazing freeride foils if you want. Need to test those sup wings someday to experience that feeling!
I would agree, I have both ends of the spectrum of Moses wings 633 and 637....about as opposite as they could be....but despite the extreme low speed lift of the 633 and the low end they don't feel wildly different.
