Which foil do you have? And are the strap positions equal to where you place your feet while riding strapless?
On my board it did not feel clunky at all for example, which I thought it would beforehand.

I have an Alpine foil. I put the straps right where my feet normally go. They seem right to me. When I relax in one direction, I can ignore them. The balance is good and I don't need to push or pull against them. But when I do maneuvers, they get in the way. I stub my toes, etc.
