You can have all in one board. You have to understand that you can paddle into waves with really small boards. Too many people are buying boards way too big for prone foiling.
For example Look here.
https://www.instagram.com/p/Bm92svFnPnx ... pewompcnu8
Surfer is 6’3 200 lbs paddling into knee high surf with 3’11 x 19.5 x 3 foilboard. With a big GoFoil wing under the board, he paddles as fast as any long boarder, with little effort. I surf with this guy.
I like this enthusiasm, but one can't simply point to pro surfer and tell average Joe to try that mini board. I prone surf foil Takuma 6'6 at close to 70 liters.

I surf and kite. I kite with surfboards and kiteboards.
In my experience there is no board that you can kite on, then go surf on, foiling or otherwise. Surfboards need to be light, kiteboards are heavy because they are strong, for the most part.
Just my 2 cents. I think you can share the foil as long as you have different mast lengths, but I don't think you can share the board.
Also, I've never foil surfed.

I've narrowed it down to:
Slingshot Alien Air
Takuma Mini 4'6
Both have around 40 Liters of volume, dimensions are kind of the same. I can get the Slingshot a little bit cheaper than the Takuma, but the Slingshot doesn't have a leash plug. I think they are both very suitable to start kitefoiling with, and now and then catch a small wave when there's no wind. Which one would you choose and based on what?
Thanks

What's your surfing abilities? Can you catch waves with 4'6/40L? It's not easier to catch waves when foil is attached, at least not until you are a pro.

I'm an intermediate surfer, I'm riding shortboards 5’6 x 18 3/4 x 2 3/16 and a 5'8 x 18 7/8 x 2 5/16 which are around 24-26 L.

Oh... you are not an average Joe
Go with Mini 4'6 or ZK 5'6 which is carbon and super fight, feels like a surfboard. Don't go with kite specific boards from kite brands. Those are heavy and feels like a dead brick when in waves. Those are indestructible for kiting that's why it's great for it, but if you are a surfer - you will not like it. I have ZK 5'6 and ZK 6'6. Can't be more happy. Remember don't go too small as you are most likely going to surf foil it in weak conditions when it's not pumping for your shortboard, so even ZK 5'6 makes sense as it's too compact shape, it's just very thick.

Looks nice! How's durability on those Takuma boards vs for example Slingshot or other brands?

ZK surf is very light carbon sandwich construction. It's not as durable as regular kitefoil boards. It can only be either durable, either light. I ride real shortboards with kite so I don't have an issue to deal with not so durable boards as long as the board is lightweight and feels very well. If you prefer technologies like Firewire FST for prone surfing, then go with regular kite foil boards. But if you are riding regular shortboards that are light and not so durable, then ZK should not have any problems with durability. I don't have Mini 4'6, but I think it should be more durable as it's glass construction (my Takuma BX SUP in glass construction is bomb proof) and also marketed as a hybrid board.
