There's some guys in their 20's and 30's here. Some in 40's and 50's too. I'm 59 soon but hope to foil well into my 60's. Demographic is getting wider.
I keep telling people to sell their big 14- 15-17m kites and get a foil.

for me its actually easier to fly with a foil set up then regular TT...
my pocket board is 112 cm (and could be smaller) which is the largest item and can easily fit in as a "regular" bag.
about the young riders, my son learned to foil at 14.
he enjoys freestyle the most but loves to foil as well...
cheers

I see what the guys do...some cool stuff, but also quiet some dangling.
Why should I start something new while I still have so many tricks to do? Currently 1400+.
Once I am down to 0 (never I guess) I can look for something new...until then I am happy with my 18 and TT
Because you only live once and this is one of those epic, landmark things.

I remember showing up at Crissy Field Nov 2015 to discover that everybody was on foil. Nobody was even on directional, while I was the only dude with TT. Next year, seen the foiler population steadily growing to significant proportion in two other popular Bay Area places, firmly imprinted in my mind that I have to convert. So, yes, there is peer pressure of everybody doing it, and it is a significant factor.

To get to a ripe old age without learning this magical sport might well be a one of the things you will regret never experiencing.
and you may then end up saying to yourself over and over again-
"I wish I had learnt that foiling thing when I was younger and fit enough to enjoy it"
It is a magical feeling gliding around a few feet above the water in complete silence, sailing in any direction that takes your fancy, and at times never touching down on the waters surface(2 hours in the air,if you like)
Go fly a foil !

that exactly!
This tread slowly turns in to jehovah's witness convention trying to convert/recruit people.
Foiling is not for everyone..
There will always be folks who'll find it too boring, too challenging, too cumbersome, etc.
I like it this way. When I go out where maybe be 2-3 other foilers around on warm, sunny and not so windy days...
I'd hate to see 20-30
I hate the kite zoo
