big big wings

Postby Icharus » Mon Sep 17, 2018 4:31 pm

SO - I forgot an Allen key yesterday and it was either go home and get one or just stick my sup foil on a kite board and go ride. Now this foil is 1900 odd cm^2 - which you would think is ridiculous for a kite board....... but it wasn't.
If like me you like riding swells and surfing stuff no-one else would bother with then its a hoot. Its super stable but carves perfectly well - transitions are a doddle - really whats not to like? if you are an out and out racer then of course it isn't for you. but if you only want to ride waves then theres no point in being faster than they are is there? Once the swell picks you up its plenty fast - and you can spin round and casually make your way back out to do it all again. Anyone else tried ?

2018 is all about big wings. Those wings will not only contribute greatly to converting twintipping crowd to foiling en masse, but would also get most of non-racers getting a set for lightwind and freeride.

Wakefoiled on Lake Michigan past weekend on Slingshot 84cm and on 76cm wings. So much fun for no wind situation. Foils are awesome, people get excited

The ride on 76 felt more fun and I could stay in the wake just fine.

84 was fine too, I rode it longer because I had it on smaller, more fun board

Most serious whitewash I was through on those was whitewash from the boat. Not much of a whitewash but did fine

Yup no problem - might be less susceptible to the loss of lift when you hit white water
