But on the plus side for foiling, usually on any given day you will use a much smaller kite than you would on a twintip. So when things go bad, and they will, there is not as much pull from the kite. Self launching and landing is also much easier as your launching a 5 or 7 mtr kite in 15 knots rather than an 11 or 12 mtr kite.

Good call on the Nugget. Once you have it down solid start thinking about the foil. Learning to kitefoil from scratch seems like learning to juggle and unicycle at the same time.

there are cheaper alternatives to the onda 633.
Gong supfoil is supposed to be similar
(surface area etc..) but cheaper construction (alu mast)
Board and foil together is 800€ new.

Flying a kite in 8-10 kts requires skills. LOTS more than in 20kts... Skills to keep it in the air, then even more skills to generate reliable continuous power.
You need to practice those skills extensively before you go on the foil. Try landboarding / snowkiting or at the very least, spend some time flying the kite on land until you can forget about it.
