This is an Xray scan of a Moses Fluente 91 mast. In this very mast, one of the threaded inserts (the left one in the picture) was out of 1 mm. Ground back to flush.
As you can see the metal Y was slightly cracked on the left, therefore, the threaded "insert" bent and went slightly out of the mast base.
There is no chance that the insert will strip out unless the metal Y will break somehow.
Still holding fine since a couple of months...

That's really great to understand how the mast is secured,
One last question.
And those who know what they are looking at may well be asking the same question,
The side that shows the small crack in the Y,
Is that the side that would be nearest the nose of the board?
I am thinking this crack may be caused by running into a sand bank, or similar. Even hitting the bottom for some reason.
Wish I had an X ray machine🤔👍

Thanks antonell0 it shows that both inserts are fixed quite thoroughly with the "V" metal frame, instead of more fragile single inserts :thumb:

It's actually the opposite side, the cause is not hitting the bottom but jumping and landing flat (many times) with a big front wing (633). That's not my foil, but good for the owner that he's a veterinary with an X-ray machine :D

That's an impressive insert and shows how well the Moses is engineered! I have the 2016 fluente mast. Holding strong, 200 hrs foiling, multiple grounding...
I thought the inserts were just individual.

I am not super impressed with that insert. It relies on it's shape and the glue for strength. There's no easy way to replace it. It looks over designed and under thought.

What's wrong with a simple stainless steel barrel nut? I have over 200 hours on my mast with no noticeable wear and tear to the inserts.
