Does it require a gasket between the foil mast plate and rage bottom of the board? The earlier models had a vee bottom in the area of the tracks that required a gasket.

I'm not sure. I use the gasket from the Impulse foil. It doesn't come with one. I think it's needed

Get some clear silicon caulk and put a few dabs on the plate and stick it to the foil.

There are some easy work around if just one mast and just one board or if you never anticipate moving the foil fore and aft.
If the transition plate just had holes rather than slots you could hold it to the board with the track bolts when the foil is dissembled.
I used epoxy and microbaloons to build up a flat bottom on mine ( the red one). It’s not pretty
I hope they work out a flat bottom where the tracks are for 2020.
Otherwise it’s a very nice shape and nice light board.

If it is a rubber gasket, it seems like a really good idea for a bit of protection and you can leave it on the board, I have had such one on earlier plate foils too (Zeeko Spitfire being one of them) - i prefer that instead of the aaaargh crunchy sound when you tighten the screws and sand grit tear the bottom surface up

I have the 2018 board and it needs the plate but I think it's a good idea anyway. As Peter says, I like a protective layer between plate and board. It has never been an issue. I would not let it influence board choice in any way. For that size board, the Galaxy is a great board.

It is not a rubber gasket. It is hard plastic.

Bugger if hard plastic, not the "cushioning" effect
Then I would use a bit of contact cement at the corners or along the edges, then it will protect against sand grit as it will sit on the board always, and can easily be removed if you for any reason want that later
